Any courses from RR 6 or 7? PSP RRs only have levels from the first 4 games (I think there is a RR5 level but not sure).
No I don't think it does. I've played pretty much RRs PSP to the final race and there was no original level. RRs 2 PSP mostly added levels from RR4. Hell the whole point of the PSP game and it's name Ridge Racers (later ridge racer) is it's a retreading of old Ridge Racer games. -edit- Checking Wiki, There is an exception. They are not original courses but modified courses from rave racer. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ridge_Racer_%28PSP%29The final two courses are also based loosely on Rave Racer: Silvercreek Dam Downtown Rave City However the exact course layouts of Silvercreek Dam and Downtown Rave City have not been in any of the previous arcade or PlayStation Ridge Racer titles. Although, in typical Ridge Racer fashion, they share (very small) sections of track from previous courses. Silvercreek Dam shares a section of track from Greenpeak Highlands (Rave Racer’s Mountain course), whereas Downtown Rave City shares a section with Midtown Expressway (Rave Racer’s City course). -edit 2- I am wrong.Ridge Racer 2 has 3 original tracks according to wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ridge_Racer_2_(PSP) Featuring three times as much game play time as its predecessor however, the differences lie in the addition of a total of 42 new racing tracks (of which 21 are unique tracks, with a reversed sequence counting as a separate track), while 18 are taken from previous titles in the Ridge Racer series. Two tracks are from the original Ridge Racer, three tracks are from Ridge Racer Revolution, four tracks are from Rave Racer, eight tracks are from R4: Ridge Racer Type 4, and four tracks are from Rage Racer. Every track from every Playstation Ridge Racer game released is included as part of this package.
The iPhone version 18 corses are Ridge Racer / Ridge Racer V = 4 Ridge Racer Revolution = 2 Rave Racer = 4 Ridge Racer 4 = 6 Rage Racer (RR) = 2 Some tracks Are probabably mirror versions i guess. I o ly had a quick look just now. Yakumo
No it isn't. But it does need some changes to make it more appealing to modern game players. I would suggest a slightly more realistic car handling, a lot more realistic (graphical) physics and car damage. They should retain the high fps and 'simple' arcade like graphics, just add some extra special effects and animated objects along the course etc.
I dont think they should make it more real at all. Whats yhe point in that? Then it would just be another GT or Forza wanna be. Yakumo
Yeah, RR needs to stay hard core arcade style to survive. Going more sim is the opposite of what it needs.
Very right. That's exactly what made me RR appreciate so much in the first place. As for 3D racers, there was only Daytona USA (arcade) above RR. And only dinosaur course.
Please don't make another R: Racing Evolution. If they can create something like Ridge Racer Type 4, with tons of customization (cars, liveries, ....), possibility of creating race teams ( just like clans on FPS ), have special online races / challenges, we would all be happy. But the people that worked in Type 4, are still working for Namco? I never played RR6 or RR7 (a.k.a. RR6.5) that much, but it always felt so bland.
Yeah, I agree. Good arcade-style racers are hard to come by these days. We need more of them, not less.
i bought a psp launch day because i wanted to hear the music in rr. i will be doing the same for the psp2
Go buy RR 4, it's by far the most stylish amazing version of the game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMZ872rsa90
Any game that can have a soundtrack that good makes it perfect! Amazing beats. Especially track 9 - Lucid Rhythms.:love2: Also, to me the franchise is dead. After R4. If they can redeem themselves I wont know about it unless someone lets me try their game, cuz I have lost hope. =[
Maybe it's just due to my feelings towards the game, but I definitely think that RR4 had the best intro. All the others suffered slightly from having random girl jumping or floating or 'thinking about cars' or something ethereal like that. This one made you feel like there was a bit of story there, even if it was very vague.
RR4 is probably the best version, but the original or Revolution on PS1 are the most iconic to me (and Rave Racer is definitely kick-ass). Of course, Daytona USA is still the king of arcade racers.
