Can you use a wireless Xbox One controller on a PC with a 360 wireless adapter?

What makes the Xbox 360 wireless controller different to the wired one internally? Why is it you cant use the wireless controller on a PC even when it is connected via. USB cable???

The USB cable was for the Play and Charge Kit, so it was only using USB for power, nothing else. Controller was still communicating wirelessly.

The advantage with a PC is KB&M, why use a controller? At that point just play the game on a console.

The ability to play with a keyboard and mouse is not the only advantage of playing on a PC. Also, some games can't be played very well with a keyboard and mouse.

Xbox one controllers are too expensive now. 360 is a great controller. I heard xbox one controller felt amazing but they are too expensive.

I found a couple of games where the XB1 controller isn't compatible where they would support a 360 controller just fine. Just like how there's certain games that don't work properly with 3rd party xinput controllers. I suppose that is more a problem of the game's implementation of controller support than the controller support itself.

That said, I don't find the XB1 controller to be a massive improvement. It feels a little more comfortable in the hands, but I never had complaints about the 360's ergonomics. While the dpad is better on the xb1 controller "for selecting stuff", actually using it as a main input (like a 2d platformer) is terrible. The dpad is too low profile and hard to hit the diagonals. Although, I have two xb1 controllers, and both dpads feel slightly different. Not great either way, though.

I still haven't found the PERFECT pc controller though. The 360 pad is still the closest. The dualshock 4 is alright, but it has some durability issues and requires 3rd party software to get it to run on pc correctly.
