September 14th, one of the best shooters of all time comes out on XBLA. I cannot wait to play it without framerate issues and in an enhanced graphical overhaul. It will contain Saturn and Arcade mode with secret Ikaruga style mode thrown in. 1,200 microsoft points is a steal, Saturn copies still go for over ten times that. And there is still Guardian Heroes from Treasure on the horizon, Microsoft really nails the arcade offerings on 360 (where is Killer Instinct Arcade collection though? Rare get on it).
Rare owns rights to anything Killer Instinct related. Microsoft owns Rare, so they can release it just like they did with the enhanced ports of Banjo Kazooie/Tooie/Perfect Dark on XBLA.
Just in time for the September 16 long weekend in Mexico. Fuck yeah, I've been waiting forever for this one. Fucking fantastic.
I was told by an ex rare employee that KI along with Golden Eye were owned in part by Nintendo, which is why neither have shown up on anything other then a Nintendo console (even the Midway arcade was plastered with Nintendo logos...). KI3 has been mentioned since 2007... however if you read the interviews you always see a phrase "Contractual issues", similar contractual issues that killed any chance of Goldeneye appearing on the XBox 360...
So what is the deal with Treasure and the Xbox? Is it that theyre a small team and the 360 is easier to program for? Does Sony have some policy about remakes on PSN? Doubt its some kind exclusivity deal.
I once read something from another Japanese company associated with the shooting genre (Cave, perhaps? I honestly forget!) about Microsoft's hardware not just being easier to program for, but that its policies are far looser than Sony's. Of course, this may very well not be the case at all, though it is odd that so many favour the 360...
I'm sure this has been speculated on before but curiosity says to me: how will this affect the Saturn version's resale value. Probably not much of a dent given collectors gonna collect.
Well then the Wii U flops and nintendo starts hemorrhaging money Microsoft will just buy them too. Assuming this KI Rumor is true
RSG, most over rated shooter EVER  and that's coming from a Saturn fan. I won't be buying it at all. Saying that, I do own the Saturn version. Yakumo
I think I recall you saying that on the show that I ruthlessly rip off every two weeks  But you can't really deny it's influence other overrated shooters like Chaos Feild use the sword mechanic and that new G Rev Shooter Strania
Sure it's overrated, but very, very good. Regardless it still carries a high price tag and as such makes your comment rather...interesting. Unless you got it for a pittance while it was on clearance.
I'm just happy I'll have a chance to actually buy it. I've been wanting to play it for some time now.
It should affect it a lot since RS isn't rare. If memory serves me correctly the game sold decently for a shooter when it came out, in fact, I thought I had read somewhere it sold almost 50,000 copies. It's not like Blast Wind or Hyper Duel or Taromaru or Crows where sometimes you actually have difficulty finding a copy.
RSG is a pretty cool game. I just wish I could find a copy that isn't outrageously overpriced. Still, I refuse to play console ports on XBLA unless they're enhanced in some way. It seems ridiculous to do so when I own virtually every console that has a port on XBLA.
