Ha, well thank you. I've only done it once though, and even then it was through Stage 2. But it is a fairly fun story: It was 2004 on a Wednesday afternoon. I was still living at the dorm rooms and I had about an hour or so to kill before my physics class, so I decided to play some RS. Generally, I could beat Stage 3 (first level) without dying, might lose a life or two in Stage 2, and then I might squeak by Stage 5 and get murdered by Xiga. But today I was on fire. I 1-lifed Stage 3, then 1-lifed Stage 2, and then, somehow, 1-lifed Stage 5. I was like :-0 So Xiga comes up, and I'm sure my glorious run is about to come to an end even though I had 5 lives for him. But no, I actually managed to destroy Xiga unscathed. So there I was, facing the final boss, and right in the middle of one of its patterns my alarm goes off telling me to go to class. So I pause the game to turn my alarm off, and because of that, once I unpaused I immediately lost the only life I lost on the run. OH: Though I was ridiculously excited and, of course, skipped physics that day. I even took a picture of the score. But still, I often think about how close I was to being able to say I 1LC'd RS. And oddly enough, I rarely ever played the game again after that, despite the fact that I view it as the best shooter ever made. I generally just play Blast Wind and Batsugun on the ole' Saturn. Terrible score due to the Stage 2 route and the fact that I didn't chain at all in Stage 5, but it's my one 1CC of RS.
Either today or tomorrow I shall have this beast unless I'm on stage 123 of Pink Sweets, fucker never seems to end! The only downside to RS being availible legally to the masses is now EVERYONE will know if and Ikaruga have the same final boss.
Just noticed that RS XBLA has Avatar Awards. You get a shirt with the RS logo and a toy ship. Awesome.
I unlocked the shirt today GOD this game is hard as fuck JUST when I though the first stage is over it throws another boss at me which by then I'm already out of credits/lives I don;t think I will ever achive 100% destruction ANYWHERE either
If you can't 100% the first boss in the game, you should probably stop playing video games, to be honest.
I'm sorry I don't have some form of Autism that makes me amazing at shmups like all the other people good at Shmups!
To be fair, most people don't tend to realize that you can destroy the cannon that fires the giant fireballs without killing the boss. Even after returning to the game it took me a second to recall that.
