I'm having a hard time finding info on how parts of it works, but there seems to be a problem of some sort with it related to one of the more recent firmware updates for the 360 (+the HDMI enabled 360s and other recently refurbished non-HDMI ones too)
Any Xbox 360 which had the Summer '09 update cannot be NAND flashed. The hole has been closed. -hl718
ESPGaluda II Black Label coming early next year. IMHO, better, but many will cry heresy. It was my introduction to "new arcade kit at release" which was painful on the wallet, but I have no regrets.
GaijinPunch, how good is the 360 port of DoDonpachi whatever it's called? I noticed it's by the same team behind Mushihime Sama which kicks ass and the comming Espgaluda II. The reason I ask you is because you are Mr. Cave of Assembler. Yakumo
http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23612 This might help. I have DDP on PS2 and it's great. (I believe the 360 version was a port?)
It's not the same team. Not in the least. In fact, it's from two ends of the spectrum. Dodonpachi Daioujou Black Label EX (yeah, long title) was ported by 5pb... a dating sim developer & publisher. Mushime-sama Futari was ported by M2, whom as everyone knows, are one of the last companies on the planet that truly know how retro games are supposed to be done (they ported most [all?] of the Sega Ages series from Gunstar Treasure Box & up. Both of the arcade games were developed by Cave, which is what you're confusing. To be completely fair, I've never played the DOJ:BLEX port, but I own the PCB in full kit form which was plenty for me. But the game was not only plaugued with bugs, it turns out the source was hacked/decompiled (from the immaculate PS2 port) and has lead to a legal disaster for 5pb and the people they outsourced to. Supposedly Arika (who did the PS2 port) is lending a hand and featuring a patch, and then a remade version since the first one cannot be patched to perfection. ESPGaluda II is being developed inhouse (same as Death Smiles), and will include two different arrange modes: one by Ikeda (original designer of all 3 games listed above) and Yagawa (Garegga, Ibara, Batrider, etc). I'm really looking forward to this one.
Thanks for the info, GaijinPunch. Looks like I'll pass on Dodonpachi Daioujou Black Label EX and go straight for Espgalua II and pick up Death Smiles used. I wasa big fan of that one in the arcade. Yakumo
It's fantastic!! From what I can tell it's arcade perfect plus it's based upon the 1.5 version. not only that but it also includes 1.01 and Black editions!! Add in original and 360 arrange modes plus more screen displays that you thought possible and you have one fantastic shooter. You won't be dissapointed in it put it that way  Yakumo
OK, sounds good, probably would've gotten it already if my 360 didn't have the red rings. I was so disappointed when Raiden Fighters Aces and Raiden IV both turned out to be region locked, plus when I heard that you'd get to only use one ship in Raiden IV if you didn't buy the other two from XBox Live So glad that Cave finally decided to make at least one of their games region free, I wish MS would use the On Demand system for something like 2D shooters so we didn't have to import.
Actually Raiden in on the Japanese On Demand service. I want Out Run 2 though. I got the demo from the UK 360 store but it's not on the Japanese one
Has OutRun Online Arcade not been released on Japanese XBLA? But that's cool about Raiden, I just wish other developers realized how easy it would be to distribute this kind of game that way in other regions too.
Since I thought it might be something nice to have, I compiled a list with NTSC-JP exclusive releases from data on xbox.com and cross-checked it with Play-Asia. If we go by Play-Asia the games are all (most likely) region locked. The only confirmed exception so far is the recently released Mushihimesama Futari. 11eyes CrossOver A-Ressha de Ikou HX/A-Train HX, A列車で行こうHX Edit: Discovered that it was released in 2008 in Europe (UK) and Australia, no US release Absolute: Blazing Infinity, アブソリュート ブレイジング インフィニティ Agarest Senki: Re-appearance, アガレスト戦記 リアピアランス Apocalypse: Desire Next, アポカリプス ~ディザイア ネクスト~ AquaZone: LIFE SIMULATOR, AquaZone ~LIFE SIMULATOR~ CHAOS;HEAD NOAH CLANNAD Deathsmiles, デススマイルズ Diario: Reverse Moon Legend, ディアーリオ リバース ムーン レジェンド Dodonpachi Daioujou Black Label EXTRA, 怒首領蜂 大往生 ブラックレーベル EXTRA DREAM C CLUB, DREAM C CLUB(ドリームクラブ) Everyparty, エブリパーティ Gundam: Operation Troy, ガンダム オペレーショントロイ Idolmaster, アイドルマスター Idolmaster: Live for You!, アイドルマスター ライブフォーユー! Yes, it's excellent. Arguably better than the Death Smiles port. The arcade modes feature near-perfect arcade slowdown emulation, and even the 360 modes are close. For Death Smiles, the 360 modes have basically none, which changes the game entirely.
