Depends on the economy. Right now, you'd need some good Japanese to land even a decent job in the field. Not b/c it's more necessary than it was, but your competition that's out of work likely does. I know people leaving b/c they're not considered for raises due to bad language skills. Sad, really.

Well I couldn't dream of feeling comfortable in a country while not being able to speak it's language. I don't know how all the ESL kids do it. Hand signals? Too much time at Gaijin hangouts?

What are you then a gigalo? Guy that stands on street corners trying to get people to go into seedy hostess bars? Second hand dealer? Drug dealer? Pimp? PC Engine Pimp?

    cat 1 -and- 2 ! woot!

difference 6-8 months makes is drastic - top talent has left, making my job frustratingly awful. One project that a top expert had mapped out at the start of this year is still being done because our (IT) hands are now tied and we need other departments to pick up the slack.

Truth: you can cripple entire firms by removing 1 or 2 linch pins. it's extremely scary stuff.

Meanwhile top expert is at competitor kicking ass and making us look fools.
    LAME on us.

First law of recession: You either have no job for zero the pay, or twice the work for the same pay.
