So I began modifying the 360 in anticipation of my pic based flash reader arriving I plan to modify a spare bottom plastic insert (the grey one on the bottom of the 360) with two 70mm scythe fans I had around blowing nice cool air into the 360. The fans and gpu fan will be tied into 12v from a spare power adapter I have around. I had though of this mod as well: The stock fans could be modified with a dpdt so I can run the stock fans after shutoff from the external power to ensure safe cooldown. I would use a 4 pin extension cable modified for this. I don't know if it would help much given the gpu and two case fans will run independent of the stock fans already. It's probably overkill.
Then I ran into a small issue, the nice quiet scythe minikaze I bought it too thick and won't make good airflow. I will swap out a socket 7 fan for the kaze and put the kaze on the socket 7.
Ah ok. I got it from MS same time opus came out, and thought it was one due to the new style heat sink on it.
its got the older scaler chip, small av port and the line of jtag points at the front. good old xenon to be fair it proberly make your life easier in the end
Assembler what dashboard is it on? Also, personally I just run my JTAG fans prepatched to 100% rather than doing 12v mod
a 360 on 100% still quieter than my pc on 100%, yeah i know your pain there noisey pile of junk some wisper fans may be worth the cash if u still want you hearing in 3 weeks time
Just a warning you can damage your hearing sleeping in a room with a noise pc with fans. You will get tinnitus.
im more likly to get it from music than my pc i think heheh i turn my pc off at night its far to loud to sleep with it on. even thought its quite quiet compaired to the other ones in the house
Lol then if you have seen pics my water cooled dev imagine how loud my industrial fan is XD Btw lol why not just water cool it? It might be a fun project to do and your 360 will run super cool, and i can help you out with it;-) obviously it doesnt need to be as huge as mine lol
main reason becuse some of use dont want a MASSIVE radiator sticking out the top of are 360 and taking up half the room. and i think assembler is wanting to keep his 360 looking stock
he is adding 2 fans out the side, but lol you dont need a giant radiator i choose that so it would protect my investment, it was a fun project, my 360 runs soooo cool, and i made the biggest most extreme water cooling system ever on the 360 XD You can have a perfectly nice internal water cooled system as we have seen before.
Well the fans will be inside the chassis actually. I would like watercooled but I am cheap, and $15 in parts vs $150 in waterblocks on an old outdated system, no reason to waste the money.
I thought about grabbing the whisper fans since theyre supposed to both run quieter and push a higher volume of air. Still waiting for info on dashboard revision
My main problem with whisper fans. They're ment to be low profile. But when it comes to the colour they are fucking LOUD.
Programmer arrived. Board is tiny. You'd really have to be crazy to install it off only the paper instructions.
