Man they sent me their programmer, the previous version mind you, but all USB SPI, Nand-X, ect has to have power connected to the console in the back, but without the power button pressed that is where your problem is coming in.

Here is a video, the reading and writing can still be done the same way but that video is dated.

I'm guessing it worked first try after you plugged in the power cable.

It would be interesting to check the temperature of the CPU and GPU, xexmenu will do that for you... and yeah it should be plugged in but not powered on! In fact if you did power it on...i think it will power down instantly if I am not mistaken...thats what I’ve been getting when I did my 1st JTAG, but that was LPT not USB…I dumped the 1st 2MB only of the NAND, flashed xellous, dumped the NAND through httpd, merged the 2MB backup of my original nand with the dumped nand to replace xellous, and then built my cygnos nand…

Yea but for thoes who didn't get xellous and have bad reads from LTP.

just sucked, best $30 to spend on a 6min usb flasher vs 32min LTP at 16mb.

I wish if it was only 32 mins for 16MB jasper...in fact it was like 3-4 hours in my case, hence i dumped the 1st 2MB only. I am not sure why I never got the LPT speed that is everyone reports! I tested 3 PCs and 2 laptops, and they were all slow! Anyway, I do have maximus nand flasher now, and I have Cygnos in one of my Jtags...

yep i use the maximus flasher myself... it works perfect with nandpro which is all i need it for. the cygnos was nice but became pretty useless after a while imo. i built a custom pcb for my maximus nand flasher so that i could easily plug the test cables comming out of my xdk into it ^_^ did you have luck with your device though assembler? also dont forget accidental write of bad data to SMC will make it so you cant write to the flash chip unless you externally power it. there were 2 points you could use if you wanted to cut a usb cable up. you could essentially solder the red wire to the vcc and the black wire to ground and just leave the mobo unplugged from the wall. then you plug the usb cable in to a pc or whatever source and resume with your hardware flashing device.

EDIT: with the above mentioned i also find it faster to do that than to actually find a unused psu to plug the board in to flash etc etc. i mean its only 2 wires more :)

Some notes on the xboxexperts nand flasher

It HATES cables with noise isolators.

I had to find one without one, then it was detected.

    Dumped fast, and accurately.

    Flashed equally well.

I now can report success!! Boots media just fine.

However it is prompting me to update my dash and I have
to read up on that stuff still.

Also looking to figure out how to show cpu / gpu temps and fan speed.

Install dashlaunch, that way you can boot into freestyle dash, from there it lets you launch anything, check temps, and set fan speed.

If its prompting you to update your dash you probably have a HDD connected with a newer dash on it.

Make sure it isnt connecting to internet. Thats a simple solution, but sometimes overlooked haha

Other than that any storage device that has been connected to an xbox with a higher dash version connected to your JTAG will promt for an update. Any games/media with a $SystemUpdate folder from a higher dash than yours will do the same.

As for temps, like Leo said, freestyle dash displays all of that in addition to being a media launcher. Installing dashlauch first and configuring it will allow you to boot directly into freestyle. And your fanspeed is set to auto, so it will always be fluctuating however freestlye can let you change it to a manual speed of your choosing.

yeah totally remove the r6t3 its only a 10k resistor so if you lose it its no big deal if you ever wanna update using official ms updates again...

I'm not sure where I read that bridging the solder points is better than removing the resistor...!

that is only if there is a chance there is a bridge from where the 10k resistor was.

I used a knife and chip it off clean.
