How can you offer a LoA without seeing the game? I know Jason didn't send it to you. Also, I'd appreciate your answer to the questions in my above post.
Who doesn't love holographic stickers. I prefer all my games to have stickers plastered over them. Gives it that lovely rental game feel.
You know what, I really wish someone will make through the process off getting those certificates. And once they received them they should take some nice pictures (or video) showing them-self destroying the certificates using paper shredder. That would be EPIC IMHO.
Homemade copies of *artwork*. With identical KoF 2000 Japanese Home Carts other than a label sticker. If the non-paper parts were made by SNK, that's all that really matters.
This is still going on? There has to be some ex-SNK marketing guinea pig who remembers whether English distribution of KoF 2000 was brought up if not seriously slated. Finding and getting them to speak up, is another story... It'd bring up memories of the bankruptcy.
How would we be able to believe him though unless he's been verified and has holographic stickers on his face? And he'll need his certificate of authenticity. It's seriously bogus to even consider these creations to be any better than what someone makes in their "reproduction". NGF was a distributor. It's not SNK. I forget who said it on here but if anyone is a "collector" they should just get the Japanese KoF2000 and call it a day. SNK didn't make an English version, if they want one they can print their own artwork. Afterall that's what NGF did. Whether you had a deal with SNK or not is not really relevant since anyone can make this artwork.
Wow. These certs look like the most un-authentic, authentic, certificates of authenticity I've seen in a long while.
Compared to what? Most certificates of authenticity are simple black/white generic format certificates. Some have the signatures preprinted as well. The NGF KoF2000 certificates are a matching set with a CoA, CoO(title), 4 holographic serial number stickers, are professionally printed in full color, and sized specifically to fit in the aes case. Some people will try to act biased against anything NGF does because it's the "in thing" to do. As the old saying goes, "If you don't have anything good to say... don't say anything at all." There is no need for negative talk or childish banter. We gain nothing by providing this service. We're offering this FREE for owners, as a compliment to their cartridge. So I don't understand why anyone would have anything negative to say. It's FREE for anyone wanting to verify their copy being an original and licensed version. (Most people with the original KoF2000 english edition have already gotten their cartridge certified). We're just informing people to beware of sellers/collectors offering/showing an English KoF2000 carts without the certificates. (No drama is needed) .
I'd beware of anyone selling a English KoF2000 cart period. I'll give you credit that if you really are verifying that these are the carts NGF sold and providing this to anyone for whatever reason interested in buying to have some assurance that it is what you say it is that is good. There is no reason not to want to know if the cartridge really was from NGF. Nothing wrong with that at all. I'm sure someone would be pissed if they bought the game assuming it was one of these 100 and they found out that it was not really. However personally I think these 100 carts have no value over the Japanese counterparts. But then again I think anyone collecting AES carts is bound to have a very strong opinion one way or the other about all this where as I don't really care that much. It is rather amusing though how there are only 100 "English Version" carts of KoF2000. Maybe you just should have numbered them from the beginning.
A pretense of even beginning to resemble what we consider wisdom or sensibility goes out the window with high end AES collectors. That kind of money is not by any means "normal" among casual gamers. Especially when there's multiple drastically less expensive legal ways to achieve a close enough gameplay experience for their needs. Still yes. NGF should have an idea many copies of the work they produced. While someone from SNK must know whether English AES KoF2000 was planned, and if so, how far along the idea got. A licensed outsourced version would be pretty official in my view. I mean really, nobody I know considers things like Majesco re-releases any less genuine.
Better late than never It was part of our answer to the fake version being sold from France. Here is a little comparison of the KoF2000 real vs. fake: https://skydrive.live.com/redir.aspx?cid=d45df51bb290a06f&resid=D45DF51BB290A06F!472&parid=D45DF51BB290A06F!103&authkey=!ANOwt_kd2K63498 These people even counterfeited the NGF stamp of authenticity and the NGF distributor sticker. When you compare the fake to the original side by side, the difference in quality is obvious. Hindsight is 20/20 We never thought there would be so many counterfeits on the market as we see now. People are now making/selling Metal Slug, Metal Slug 2, Turfmaster, Double Dragon, Kizuna Encounter, Blazing Star, and many more high dollar aes cartridges. So the KoF2000 certificates and title registry is an extra added assurance for all owners and potential buyers to know their cartridge is the original and licensed version. People are also starting to counterfeit rare Atari 2600, ColecoVision, and Nintendo games, complete with outer box, shrink wrapping, manuals, etc.... With technology and printing getting better and better, and printing prices getting cheaper, even world governments change and add anti-counterfeit measures to their currency. The KoF2000 certificates should provide some extra ease of mind to all owners/potential owners. .
So is there going to be a KoF2000 certification Phase II once people start bootlegging these new certificates? Do you know how silly this is getting? Since only 100 of these certificates are being made, how are you to know when you receive one if it's real or fake since the majority of people will have never seen an original?
You bring up a good point, but the same can be said about any collectible item of value that comes with some type of certificate. We feel that the KoF2000 english edition will have more than enough accompanying extras that should render counterfeiting virtually impossible. Most importantly will be the Certificate of Ownership title registry. Title Registry All KoF2000 cartridges that have been certified will have a matching Certificate of Ownership titled to the owner's name. The CoO title is registered and cataloged by number, and will be archived for reference and provenance. Anyone selling or considering buying, will be able to do title history and verify the cartridge's origin. We hope this will be able to give peace of mind to all owners, and potential new owners during a buy and sell scenario. New owners send in the old CoO and will be issued a new CoO in the new owner's name (just like buying a car or a house). No other collectible has ever received this service or has been issued a title registry. You're question was welcomed, and we hope that people will be able to understand how we're trying to do our part to preserve the integrity of the KoF2000 english edition. As I mentioned before; this is a FREE service and we gain nothing by offering it. .
That's why I thought the certs looked rather unimpressive. I would assume more security features would be added to it rather than just a straight up insert anyone could copy. Like a hologram, special stock paper, micro-printing, anything. EDIT: At least it has signature and name which I suppose is something.
Here is a fully authenticated edition up for sale in Japan: http://tokyotoyfactory.jp/product_info.php?products_id=1602 KoF2000 #098/100 "Antarctica" Edition selling for $13,000usd (1,000,000yen). People can see how the complete set looks with all items in place. Certificate of Authenticity with name edition, Certificate of Ownership - titled and registered in owner's name, Letter of Authenticity, and the 4 special holographic serial numbers. No need to argue. Keep this thread clean. I just wanted to show members what the complete Authentication set looks like and prove that it adds a tremendous amount of value and security against all the counterfeits that have been rampant in the video game world lately.
