Not yet - one developer I talked to said he had some Konix software but when he tried to read the floppies they were blank. I asked for the floppies anyway but he never got back to me (he must now be annoyed with my requests). When the site lanches I may see something from other developers who were involved - but it's a longshot.
Hi Guys, Could you do me a favour and take a quick look at my website and let me know if it's a load of pants. I think I've got down what I need to say, and now it's on to the arduous job of proof reading and editing. There will be a few odd bits and some glaring mistakes and typo's. Possibly some text that doesn't even make sense, but I'd appreciate it if you could let me know if you think it works ok. Cheers, Mqark. http://www.konixmultisystem.co.uk
Call me crazy but i think i saw one of these on a flea market today. It looked exactly like the one in the 2nd pic. Didn't asked if it was working and the price... My bad OH: Maybe it was just the PC controller? Or it could be a damn famiclone using this design? But it was exactly like this one on the picture, including the Multi-System name. Any ideas? I might go back there next weekend or in two weeks. Let's hope i find it again. Anyone would be interested?
ahm, just hold on a moment. you just gonna tell us, that you're the owner of a Power Console? h: or what PC steering wheel for the SGFX you're talking about?
I only have the chinese produced PC controller - I'd be sitting on a fortune if I had one of the real prototypes. Johnny, It's so unlikely that it's a real prototype - It's much more likely that it's an MSC manufactured controller. The MSC unit has a handy label on the bottom that Says MSC 200e. There would be a floppy drive in the middle of the unit where the "rudder" control is on the MSC and it would weigh alot more. Finally the Konix was always going to be a light grey colour unlike the Black MSC's. It's worth getting one if you're into collecting obscure stuff - but it's got no real value. (Even though RG try to sell them for 100 pounds).
In the moment i saw the damn thing i thought: " i have seen this at the Assembler message board... " Anyway, i didn't stopped, so i can't say much. What got me wondering is that in the middle of the wheel, it was written Multi System. I found the PC controller in MercadoLivre, but it hasn't got Multi System written on it. Instead it says Leadership (Brazilian company that sells cheap quality PC stuff). Maybe the one i saw was imported? (produced by MSC like you said). I don't know if i'll go back there next saturday, but i'll probably go back in 2 weeks. If it's cheap, i'll get it.
Went to the flea market and saw it again. Like you guys previewed, it was just a controller using the same design. It was modified to be used in Atari though (The guy said he used to play Enduro and Pole Position with it). Anyway, here's a pic i took with my girlfriend's cellphone. (forgot mine at home) No, i didn't bought it. The guy was asking 40 bucks for it. There's one, boxed in mercadolivre for the same price: http://produto.mercadolivre.com.br/...-multi-system-super-ms-300-3x1-leadership-_JM
Johnny: I have one of those and it plays like shit BTW, I posted some pics of it in a old Konix thread here in asm...
Believe me – I’ve tried but I get met with stony silence. I guess he just doesn’t want to talk about it anymore. Does anyone know him personally and can have a friendly chat with him to try to build bridges? It’d be a shame for the poster boy of the Konix not to have an opportunity to have a chance to look back and settle it for once and for all.
Has anyone got a MSC 200e Multisystem PC controller they can sell me? I had to abandon mine when I moved a couple of years ago, and I have a need to have one again. Thanks, Mqark.
*bump* Sorry to bump - but I do kind of urgently need to buy one, so if anyone has one let's talk money. Thanks!
Ok - bit of an update for those interested. I have been given a scan of a business plan used to prospective investors to try and gain the money required to launch the Konix Multisystem. Once I've rebuilt my PC from a crash, I'll FTP it onto my website for all to download. The guy that gave it to me used to work at Konix and I'm preparing a whole bunch of questions to ask him regarding the machine and the powerchair. He strikes me as being VERY knowledgable and ready to answer all questions regarding the machine. He was a product design engineer, so it was his job to take the concepts and make them production ready. He has the ORIGIONAL plastic moulded parts of the Multisystem in the origional grey, blue and red colours and he's going to ship them to me (yippie!). Do you have any burning questions about this machine that haven't ben answered anyhwere else that I can put to him? Also, don't forget to check out the design document for a Konix game I received from someone else which is hosted at my site, it's interesting to read how games back in those days were pitched to prospective publishers.
I've also over the last couple of days managed to get in touch with the guy that designer the powerchair and he still has a VHS of the manufacture process of the chair and lots of design sketches. Hopefully he'll be willing to let them see the light of day after 20 years.
Oh man, if you can get hold of a copy of that VHS tape it would be amazing! That has got to be the ultimate console accessory that never was.
