Hi @LeHaM, That Dragon Rage copy you have is actually a portuguese release. That's the infamous IGAC seal. IGAC is a department of Culture Ministry (abbrev. MC in portuguese) responsible for inspecting (read: tax as fück!) all cultural activities. It's not meant to seal anything really but there was a brief moment where the sticker would in fact keep the media box closed, and would mostly be ripped when you opened the case. By law all imported media must have at least a quick guide translated if there's no description. That sticker was a guarantee of that but mostly that the media was imported the legal way (kinda like the US UCP sticker on Sonic 1) and the Ministry would cash in large . If you look carefully, that sticker has a hollographic band with MC ICAG. Then it says "Título"(title) and the name of the game and the abbreviation of the platform. In this case, its "-PS2". Then there's "Classificação" which is the rating. It's something like M/?? where ?? is the age (M, is for Maiores, meaning Over/12 for example.) Then there's registration number (N DE REGISTO) which identifies the media and the year, after the forward slash, and finally the most interesting part is the COPIA Nº which nothing more than the serial number. I say interesting because sometimes it's funny to get a first copy or some other sort of odd number, like some people who are into low serial numbers on hardware and stuff. NOW, you're actually the first guy who ever said it was cool. I'm afraid that if you insist on that, you'll be the only one. Ever! That sticker is a bloody cancer!!! The only thing positive about it was that some stores would accept trade-ins or buy used games but they mostly had to have that sticker (again, meaning it had an official authorised distribution). Only one or two stores would accept it otherwise. In practise, if you had games that you bought or brought from abroad (say a trip to spain where prices were often more appealing), without that sticker your options for selling/trading it with a retailer would be almost none. The PS2 in particular and the plastic cases in general aren't a big deal. Moisturing it and gently rubbing it with a rubber would remove most of it, then finishing with rubbing alchohol and it was as if it never existed. The problem came when they'd retardly sticked it to cardboard games. In those, not even blowing hot air would be of much help as the holographic band reaaaaaly sticked shit together. Think Game Gear or Sega Saturn (my cardbox sega saturn collection is by far the worst when it comes to case condition). That plague was a constant throught most of Nintendo's library up until GC. I'm not sure now but I believe even on 360 games they'd fucking glued it.. on... the paper cover itself! Yes, underneath the plastic! That's a straight Darwin Award there! Then the simply slipped it in inside the case. Sealed factory games are rare because all the stuff has to had at least a folded page with basic instructions in portuguese, if a manual is absent from origin. So there you have it.
Thanks for the detailed info dude It sucks when the regulations make stores do stuff like this, the closest thing wee have to this over here is age ratings. All games and media have to have HUGE age ratings, for a lot of games they have to have put these stickers on them and the glue used goes hard and yellow and is a pain to remove.. Speaking of stickers, ebgames here used to put their square stickers on the disk and if you pull them off nowadays, 9 times out of 10 it will rip off the label on the disc :/
haha now I think of it... it does hehe New video is up A bit of a Vlog of me making a multu console PSU for some 9V systems This one is a review of a device called the Titan One, a controller modding device that sits between the console and controller (no need to mod the actual controller). Stumbled across this youtube channel when researching TSOPing the original Xbox. I like the laid back nature of the videos, I especially enjoy the videos about your electronic fixing, modding and restoration. Thanks for the really interesting channel and I hope you keep posting videos.
