    Hey guys,

i just received a GDEmu and installed it, now i formattted the SDHC Card(32gb) and made a folder named 01 and put GD-Menu in it and a folder named 02 with a GDI Image.
The GDI image has 14 tracks, i named the gdi file "disc.gdi" and the bin files "track01" to "track14", but the SD Card Maker says "GDI File is incorrect or Files is missing".

I tried to run the game anyway, and GDMENU starts, but when i choose the GDI (it says unknown gdi) in the Menu it returns to the Dreamcast Menu.

Can someone please tell what to do or did i anything wrong here?

I tried it with different images now, the same error message ("GDI File is incorrect or Files is missing") also appears when i try to add a image with the SD Card Maker.

you need file extensions on everything like here:

An example of correct filenames for GDI image:

    • track01.bin
    • track03.bin
    • disc.gdi
    • track02.raw

And the names inside the disc.gdi must match your the file names.

Yes i know about the file extension, i just wrote track14 without saying that it has already the "bin" extension, i thought that should be obvious.

Now i took a GDI Image which has 3 tracks and tried following methods but still doesnt work:

    Method 1:
    disc.gdi
    track01.bin
    track02.bin
    track03.bin

Method 2 (as you mentioned, and which also described is on the GDemu website):
    disc.gdi
    track01.bin
    track02.raw
    track03.bin

Both didnt work, and i dont understand why the second file from your example has a .raw extension?
Shouldnt it be .raw only if the file has a .raw format from the beginning, or should the second bin file (track02.bin)
always changed to track02.raw, and the the rest still .bin ?

    @rtw

Can you please explain what you exactly mean?

E: nevermind, i know what you meant, and now i changed the info inside the gdi file into:

    3
    1 0 4 2352 "track01.bin" 0
    2 450 0 2352 "track02.bin" 0
    3 45000 4 2352 "track03.bin" 0

    But it still dont work.

The GDI images i have all come with .bin tracks, there are no .raw files.

Then you have badly made gdi dumps. Audio tracks, while 2352bytes/sector like bin files, are supposed to be .raw files. Raw is used to denote raw audio.
There shouldn't be quotes around the filenames in the gdi and it should be track02.raw.

I just copied what is shown on the technical details page. Sorry, it was not obvious that you had included the file extension for the bin files because you included it in the quotes for your gdi file. FamilyGuy is probably correct that they appear to be bad dumps.

    Yeah, defintely bad dumps.
I just wonder if there is a way to get them working, maybe converting them somehow?
I tried my luck and changed some of the files which might couldve been .raw files, didnt work though.

    thanks yall.

I got it working, FamilyGuy thanksfully seen and mentioned that there should be no quotes in the gdi.
Somehow the GDI of my dumps all have quotes.
I dont know if track 2 is always a raw file though.

There are 5 bin files , the first, third and fifth are bigger files and the second and fourth files have approx. the same size and they are also distinctively smaller, so i guessed those are normally the
raw files. So i changed the extensions of both files and updated the gdi file correctly, and see there, it works now.

    Thank you guys.

    It's simple, they're bad dumps.

Trust me I've tried pretty much all the ways to dump a disc, except BBA sadly, and all of them would yield a valid bin/iso + raw GDI dump.

Track01, 03 and the last one are always data, so iso or bin (bin mostly), the others are audio, so raw. Raw audio is simply the 2352bytes/sector audio data dumped straight from disc, so it should always be valid regardless of the original extension. Unless it's really bad dumps and they screwed up the offset (as states by Deunan himself).

BBA does good dumps too. I dumped every single one of my games with httpd-ack they all work fine. It sounds to me like all of the bad dumps come from people trying to use a PC drive to do it.

If the files from the bad dump can be extracted, rebuilding it with GDIBuilder is an option. I used it to fix a bad dump that someone sent me.

Yeah I agree that BBA is great, I just never had one. I dumped GD-Rom with a PC drive before it was cool and got TOSEC compliant dumps so I really don't know what those people are doing to make it so wrong.

Just had a quick look on amazon and the 600x and 400x seem to be the same price.

    Got my GDEMU, working awesome!
Used the gdemu sd card maker - worked great, saved a lot of time :)

Is there anyway to go back to the gd menu without having to power off the console and back on?
