Only proper way is using a DC, BBA and a GD-ROM, Luckily Trurip have already dumped a lot of discs for you: http://database.trurip.org/, you can find their releases in various places.

You can properly dump gd-rom with a sd-card too, easily.

There's also a way to make a parallel port (printer) cable that can rip at 100kB/s for 20¢. Using a specific DVD drive (ltd-165h) most games can be dumped correctly.

I used all those technique to obtain tosec compliant dumps. Most people dumping with PC drive do it horribly wrong somehow though.

I have some Dreamcast games not cataloged at the Trurip dat (Street Fighter Zero 3: Saikyo-ryu Dojo for Matching Service, Pia Carrot e Youkoso!! 2.5 and Pia Carrot e Youkoso!! 3), and I would love to dump them in GDI format under Trurip standards (.GDI, .BIN and .RAW files). I have a SD Card reader. Once I dumped SFZ3 using the DreamShell, but I think (not sure) the game data was dumped in a huge .GDI file.

Can somebody teach me how I can create a Dreamcast dump using the Trurip standards?

I never used DreamShell to dump a game, but it should not output a single big gdi afaik.

I used jj1odm's (the guy that designed the sd-cable) dcsdrip 1.1 software. His website is sporiadically down (and it's now) so here's a mirror: https://www.mediafire.com/?gw33zvsldur1bin
You should be able to load that program with dreamshell and dump like a champion.

All DATA tracks dump as ISO (2048 byte sector), all not DATA tracks (audio etc.) dump as RAW (2352 byte sector). GDI dump saved to /%you_device%/%game_name%/ , after dump all tracks gd_ripper make IP.BIN and %gamename%.gdi

If you have more than one, I could use one. I bought one ages ago, but I apparently misplaced it during a house move.

    Hey FG,
I've looked around and i cant seem to find any information, so im hoping that you will know,
But can you select a directory to rip the game into when using dcsdrip 1.1? If so.. how?

I'm sorry I don't remember, but you can certainly dump several games on the same card and they will be in different folders. There's an option called sd-dir in the program but I don't remember if it only list the files on the root of the SD card or if it allows you to select the dumping folder.

No problem dude, I've been looking at the sd dir options and i can only get it to list the directory's, I suppose i could try and rip consecutive games without doing anything and see if it does anything automatically.
    Thanks for the reply :)

I can confirm this release works great with a PNY 256GB card with 200+ games. Finally i can play all the games i want without ever having to take out the SD card. Thanks for this release! Now someone needs to try it with a 512GB card haha. But 256GB is enough for me.

About the GDEmu loading games in any region... There's something came into my mind, and I want to share it to see if Madsheep and Neuroacid can have some stormbrain...

I have an US Dreamcast, but I have some import (japanese) games (and I'll rip them soon). To use these games in my Dreamcast, I use the infamous Utopia Disc, making the games run beautifully with no problem. The Utopia Disc can be used not just to boot burned disc, but to load games of any region, even GD discs.

So, I was thinking... It's possible to create some routine to make the GDEmu load some homebrew like the Utopia Disc and, after the boot task be done, swap to the selected game automatically?

I have done this in the following fashion without GD-MENU.

    SD-Card layout:

    01 - DC-X
    02 - Game Disc 1
    03 - Game Disc 2

When the GD-EMU powers on, DC-X will load, then change disc using the GD-EMU button or another SD card and load the game from DC-X, works 100%.

The problem is that after DC-X has started there is no way to control the "soft" interface of the SD card this is why you must use the button.

It shouldn't be too hard for a future version of gdmenu to simply do the same as the CD-X. Again though, the region-free bios is the way to go to avoid any problem.
