    hey guys,l

i just got my GD-Emu since a few days and today i played for the first time a lil bit longer.
After circa 90 minutes the game froze and weird sound and graphic glitches happened.
I turned the console on and off and now it doesnt work anymore, the first 7-8 seconds
there is only a black screen and then the Dreamcast Screen comes without
the normal opening sound, and nothing happens anymore.

Has anybody a idea what couldve caused this?
My guess is that it overheated, and that already after 90 minutes.
The console never had any problems before, so i guess the GD-Emu caused this.

Actually it shouldt happen at all, but its even more terrible that it happened after only 90 minutes of playtime.

btw, did anyone else had the same problem?

I'm going to take a random stab and say you probably did the same thing I did.

GDEmu doesn't work with Transcend brand SD cards, don't use them. That's what happens. The cards random read speeds slow down over time and eventually it's too slow to be used.

You can work around the problem temporarily by running a benchmark tool like CrystalDiskMark against the card, which should make it work better for a while. You need a card with good random read performance. Dig through previous pages of this thread to find recommendations of a different brand. I switched to Samsung, which has the highest rated cards for random read right now. (There's an article on Tom's Hardware that benchmarks about 20 or 30 different SD cards for various criteria, you can probably their grid of results to give you an idea of ones that will have good random read performance.)

    Hello here.
I received my new GDEMU yesterday. That black style is really beautiful. I mounted it in my Dreamcast, preapared my SD card with madsheep'soft and neuroacid menu, and everything is working obviously.
Just one thing, if i could ask for :
@neuroacid : now both your menu (and madsheep's soft) can handle a lot of folders (and so, games). Could it be possible to use Left and Right to navigate in the menu, by "many games step" or even display pages ? I don't know if i explain what i ask very well (english is not my birth language) but i hope you'll understand. It's not that navigate through 100 games in that long, but it's in the gamer habit to use the Left/Right button to navigate faster.
Anyway, once again, congratulation for your both works, madsheep & neuroacid.

Be sure to have latest gdmenu and latest gdemu firmware, instructions to flash the firmware are on the gdemu website.

    Cool thanks that worked.

Defo updated to 5.10.0000, games without GDMenu load fine, as soon as you load through GDMenu you can select the game but it only goes into the bios menu.

the console is chipped if that could be causing a reason for GDMenu to not work? GDMenu is 0.4

    Thanks

Do you see the correct gd-rom image for the selected game in the menu? AFAIK GDMENU does emulate pressing the button yourself, so maybe the problem is that the modchip interferes with the custom command that does that.

Yup, GDMenu loads, I can see the game with the correct name/disc image, Press A to select game, Dreamcast reboots, animated logo appears followed the bios menu...

Still waiting to grab one of these, yet is GDmenu compatible with VGA? I noticed there is a VGA patch option in the SD card maker, yet by default on a lot of original disc games, they are VGA compatible anyway, except a few non working VGA titles.

Can someone elaborate this more clearly and is the region patch safe to use on GDI images without breaking them? I plan to use GDEMU on a Dev region free bios console, yet may try it in a non modified unit.

    Thanks

I used the VGA and Regio modification function of 'GDEMU SD CARD MAKER' and it worked like a charm, thanks to this I'm able to enjoy Bust-a-Move 4 trough VGA and play various imports hassle free :). Do note that the VGA and Region mod only works on GDI's, and that it will only work if you exclusively have GDI's on your selected SD-card.

It's relatively easy to apply those patch yourself on any images though, as long as you can rebuild the EDC/ECC data.
