    Why you don use the patch option? it is much easier than changing games?

    If you're really into gameshark codes, nothing stops you from implementing them directly in the GDI. Also, rather than spending so much time building a complex swapping protocol like this, one could probably implement AR/GS code support into GDMENU directly. I wonder if neuroacid plans to release the sources eventually.

    I've never really bothered much with these cheat enablers, but to be honest it would be pretty sweet if support for this could be added to the GDMENU/EMU directly, seeing that this would open the door to hidden content in games more easily etc!

    Patching every single game could be counter-productive.

    How complex can it be? More complex than creating a GDEMU? :) I believe it can be done via firmware update. I have email Deunan for this feature to be implemented. :)

    Yeap! With the jump function enabled, it will much easier to mod games with cheats!

    It is my underatanding that most AR and gameshark code are simply memory patching and would be relatively easy to implement for a good programmer.

    Nothing harder than bluecrab's boot disc for PSO which is open source.

    I have a stupid question.

    I am aware of the current GD-Rom Emulators that are available, GDEMU and USB-GDROM Controller. Which is great! :)

    Early models of PS1 had the Parallel IO Port.

    [IMG]

    And currently PSIO is successfully developed to take advantage of the port. Which means, user could both use SD card or their Original Games with out replacing the CD-Drive Unit.

    [IMG]

    My question is, why developers have not took advantage of the Communication Port that is on the side of the dreamcast? Could a device be made with SD Card that is similar to the concept of PSIO that does not replace the original GD-ROM?

    Since a broadband adapter was made, the Communication Port was capable of sending and receiving data at
    10 and 100 Mbit speeds.

    There could be a loader program burn on disc. Users could access the data from SD-Card via a that app. Since All models of Dreamcast has the communication port, this device would work across all models!

    I am not sure if this idea came up before or not, but it just crossed my mind. Just sharing with this dreamcast community.

    I wonder @cybdyn's DCIO would use this approach or not? :)

    because of ext port and gd-rom drive are on the different buses.
    ext port is on the G2 bus, unlike gdrom-drive is on the internal G1-bus.

    it's possible to make device on g2bus, and load games from dreamshell w/ additional driver for such bus.

    g1-bus gives a way to direct hardware emulation of gdrom-drive.

    ps1 PAR port share most generall signals lines w/ cd-rom controller. so it's good point to attach cd-emu through PAR -port. anyway we need make mod, add two lines.

    There exist software that allow you to stream games over the network with the broadband adapter. How well it works, I dont know.

    Thanks for the explanation! :) Any progress on DCIO?

    May I know what software is that?

    dcio works fine. but this version is not ready for sell.

    we have 2 versions on market))), to create another similar device it has to be reason as i think: less price, more features...

    Maybe has its own OS. Supports all models of Dreamcast. Region Free. Low cost and more features will definitely make your device a hit! :)

    I got a reply from Deunan! Support for proper swap disc could be coming in future Firmware update! And there could be a next production run in coming weeks.

    My bad! I should have said easier swap disc method. :)

    It would be like how I posted few post back.

    There could be a possibility that it would support up to 4 images.

    Example -

    next_image1 = 23
    next_image2 = 30
    next_image3 = 40
    next_image4 = 45

    @neuroacid @madsheep

    This is how I en-envisioned GDMENU to be updated once Deunan have released the firmware update.

    [IMG]

    X = Users can set up to 4 images for jump list.

    B = Users can reset/clear at anytime they want.

    IF users press Reset and never set any images for jump list, and IF they press R, GDMENU will set

    jump_function=0 // Means normal usage where the button
    will act as normal next button.

    R = Once users have set their desired images, they can press the Right Trigger. GDMENU will write set these 5 lines in the .ini file.

    Example -

    jump_function=1
    next_image1 = 15
    next_image2 = 18
    next_image3 = 20
    next_image4 = 23

    So everytime GDMENU Boots it will read the ini file to remember the set images.

    I have been following his thread for quite sometime and decided to pick up a Dreamcast again. Unfortunately the first one didn't work and even with adjusting the POT it loads only a few of my games. Since it is a VA 1 my understanding is that it is the most compatible model. I just got a VA 0 model today that seems to load games fine, but is significantly noisier. Are both versions supported by the USB GD-ROM? Also, do we know which models Cybdyn or Mario's model will support?

    It's more or less the same idea I GAVE IN THIS POST, except the user will use one pattern instead to create multiples disc lists... But this idea is cool to create a temporary list...
