maybe with a small resistor, really how much power draws the gdrom from the 12v line i think i read somewhere that it draws 200mA is this value right? if it draws 180-200mA then a 60-65 omh Resistor?

    Hi there!
    Been using GDemu few times.

I decided today to play Power Stone on my DC (everything stock except GDEmu). After 5th or 6th stage the game freezed loading next stage (when the map's pieces are on the screen before they star falling revealing next stage).
I downgraded GDmenu, thinking the new boot method could cause this. Freeze.
I cleaned my SD leaving just GDmenu + PStone. Freeze.
I tried with different dump (GDI got here - PAL version / CDI from another source). Freeze.

Everytime the game freezes, after 2, 3 or 4 stages, always when loading next stage.

It sounds like an overheating problem to you?
Only other thing I could check is playing it on original GD on original drive.

    Any other advice?
Should try the picoPSU way to cool down my DC? When the game freezes the PSU side is certainly hot, but I don't think is SO hot to overheat!

    Update:
I did a test with upper cover off: after 4 stages same freeze. But I noticed that last round before freeze some soundfx disappeared ("normal" punch + kick hit sound), while other continued to play as bgm.

Think it's time to resume my GD unit to definitively test with it.

    Update 2:
Played PS from original pal GD with original GD reader. Game lasted some more, but had same freeze after 7th stage. This time too audio had glitches: firstly same effects described above disappeared, then audio was muted completely. Quickly removed upper case: main transformer unit on PSU is hot (I can't keep my finger on it).

Ordered picoPSU on ebay, I think the overheating is only explanation left. ;(

    Update 3:
After I guess 10 minutes with upper case removed I can barely keep my finger on PSU's main transfomer...

Will it be possible to provide a step by step guide on how to make a new efficient PSU for dreamcast? Will it be possible to province all the parts list?

    Thank you.

    Hello,
    @neuroacid
May I ask a new feature ? When we have many many games on a SD card, it can be pretty long to go to the one you want (not that long, right, but well, you know how gamers are...)
Could it be possible to move, let's say, page after page using left/right on the D-Pad ; and file after file by pressing up/down, as it's already in you wonderful app ?
that's something common in emulator/flashcard menu, and i always have this reflex when i start my Dreamcast.
I don't know if you could find time to look for this, or even if it's technically possible.
Thank you once again for your work :)

If I may, the reason you can't go faster on the menu is that gdemu is actively switching disc while you travel the list. A jump feature can't really be implemented in this context. Though I think I read somewhere that this could change in the future.

    Very sad...
I was almost able to beat PS (GDversion) so I was after the overheating suspect (I had to turn off the system because of my son screaming, not after a freeze).
So I did the PSU replacement with a normal ATX PSU (of course providing right voltages), I found a solderless way using bulk cables and connectors with normal ATX female connector (already ordered picoPSU to replace external ATX PSU).

I was excited, but... no results: my DC still hangs randomly (4-5-9 stage) with PS on GDemu. The upper metal plate seems hot (but I can keep my finger on it).
Fan is corretly spinning (I can feel air coming out). No dust.

Any idea? Should I go after a thermal pad replacement?

    ;(

Unpacked my backup DC today, installed GDemu + ATX PSU.
    Beaten PS without any problem.
Upper plate was hot, I think so hot as the other DC's one, but no freeze with this unit.
Been wise to have a backup unit, but I'd like to revive the oldest one.... Ordered replacement thermal pads. Not my last hope, but almost last... ;/

keep us posted man... that has me worried... could the prolonged added heat cause a issue with your dreamcast? by placing GDEMU in another DC with same SD card proved its not that hardware... kinda scary.

Hi everyone, got the rhea easy install.
I’m wondering how everyone is getting their images to work, most the images I have found for saturn are bin/cue , rarely I come across a mds/mdf which work without any problems, are you all able to mount the bin/cue with daemon tools and convert to cdi with discjuggler without any problems?I havent had any sucess with bin/cue.
    I used discjuggler with advanced:scan gaps/indexes – r-w (cd+g) – pq – raw read.

where are you getting the images from? what site? are you converting them? what settings and programs are you using, just need the name of the site

was given a site where most seem to be iso+ape images, how are you convertig them?
I have not been able to get a working cdi from isos that are iso+ape , iso+wav or iso+mp3 Ive noticed the cdi is very small like it only creates a cdi from the iso and does not include the sound tracks, the cue included cannot be mounted on daemontools, are you mounting the cue or the iso?
