Thanks for the replies everyone. I think I'll wait until he releases another firmware and then pull the trigger on one. I'll use the suggested resistor for a 120v dreamcast and I'll be good to go!

I ticked the VGA option when i built my SD card using madsheep's SD card maker. So they should have been patched, i guess.

I've tested both quite well, the only advantage of the gdi usb host is the usb port and the drag and drop function.
On the other side GDemu has great support from the developer, better interface with game's cover, and now even in game reset.
If this isn't enough the gdemu can play even homebrew in cdi format, and my gdusb host can't, I don't know if some newer fw could, but it's impossible to contact mnemo and find a place to download new fws, so for me the gdemu wins hands down.
I don't sell the gdi usb host only because I like to collect retro hardware and their relative mods, but I'm not using it anymore.
    P.s.
my second GDemu is arrived today! now i'd like to have a second Rhea and the future pcecd ode :D

Hello people, kinda new here to post but have been a follower ever since so finally decided to register. Anyway, just wanted to say that I'm having issues with the new GDemu v0.5. I mean, adding it manually to the card works fine but when I use madsheep's GDEMU SD it copies everything fine but reverts the GDMenu to v0.4 and I prefer to use madsheep's GDMEU SD to add everything in order to rename my games. Wondering if anyone is have the same issue? I am using madsheep's latest GD EMU SD. (V1.03-08-03-2015)

Reguardless, this is all fantastic, genius, masterpeice work. Thank you neuroacid & madsheep. :D

Anyone have any news on the USB-GDROM front?
The "Before release new firmware update - I need bug report for current firmware." message just sits there, I am wondering who will provide such report if people don't have the fw... E-mailed MNEMO some days back, got no response.

Completely Agree, I love the updated font &features but loading time has been extended for me anyhow..!
That would make my life a lot easier, I have a 264GB sd card all my games are saved to. All boot and work correctly however I am prompted to wait at the loading screen for (yes I times it) 3:02 for the list to boot. Is there a way the menu can not scan every folder in the sd card every time I turn the console on??

This is the only Negative with the USB GDROM. Communication from the developer. Aside from that, now with CDI support it's a superior product. I can only think of one guy that can help and I'll contact him now.

If GDMenu has a list.ini - it will load the menu from the list instead of scanning all the folders. Without a list the only way it can create the menu is to do a folder scan (so obviously larger cards with more folders = longer load time)

If you follow FamilyGuy's good advice you can use the 1st_read.bin file from the new menu and replace the 1st_read.bin file in Madsheeps awesome GDEMU_SD program.
Then you can use his program to generate the list.ini and create your own custom menu.
I'm sure Madsheep will update his program when he is sure there are no problems with the new menu though :)

Family Guy & NightbreedUK thanks for the information. I used WINISO to extract the 1st_read.bin from the disc.cdi of the new GDMenu v0.5 and replaced it in Madsheep's GDEMU_SD program in the data/files directory and it worked like a charm. One other thing, can anyone confirm if NBA hoopz (US/NTSC) GDI is working? I get a black screen of death (BSOD) when trying to boot the game via GDMenu v0.5. So far it's the only game not to boot via the GDEMU device. It might be the GDI dump but I'll have to find another dump to see if this GDI is really the problem. In the mean time, any input of this game would be appreciated.

    Peace!

OK so I think there is something seriously up with NBA Hoopz and the GDEMU. I tried the NTSC\US - v2.000 & PAL - v1.000 GDI's and I get BSOD for both. I even tried the scene release by ECHELON (CDI) (NTSC\USA) and it goes straight to a BSOD as soon as I land on it in the GDMenu. I mean, I doesn't even give me enough time to press the A button to play game. I just move to it within the GDMenu and it tries to scan for the game info which shows nothing and then after a second or two.. BAM, BSOD. Only version that seems to be working is the PAL scene release by PULSAR (CDI) but even then there are some major sound issues (static/distortion) within the game. Perhaps they used a later version of NBA Hoopz PAL instead of the v1.000 or maybe both of the GDI's I have are broken, heh. I don't know just seems hard to believe. Anyway, at least I got one of them working although with satisfactory results.

I'm having issues with this programme, finally got it working on one of the household PCs and now once I scan the card, then rename some items which have incorrect names. I select save it then prompts me to select a save name. Then it says done. And nothing has changed, if I reload it using the as card maker the names stay as they originally were and same when in the dreamcast. Am I doing something wrong??

The reply I received is they are trying to make sure there are no problems with this release to avoid issues with all the cards out there. So, we just need to wait a little bit. Shouldn't be too long.

I have faith in the CDI feature. The menu is another story, it's putrid.
