Just want to say a big THANK YOU to madsheep, that program you made is brilliant and I have been preparing my SD card with it for when I get my GDemu board.

    thanks ;-)

@ Indiket, you should have been here years ago!

@ wombat, that'd be interesting and clearly worth the try, but Idk if the gd-rom board would support indexing over 122min.

Got my GDemu board today, fitted it and it's all good! (pictures later)

load times are a lot faster!!

Seems a few GDI files I have downloaded are not working for reasons I'm not sure of yet but all the rips I've done using the SD ripper program work fine!

    Awesome!

Would you mind sharing what SD card(s) you are using?

And, if anyone has an answer to my question about UHS-1 cards from the other week, I'd greatly appreciate it . . .

Not that we NEED the speed, but I'm curious if there is a difference!

Sure, its just a INOVS 16GB class 10 card I got with an old digital camera.

Really impressed with the unit and the greatly improved loading times.

I will just say, me and 3 mates played Power stone 2 for 3 hours last night and it was faultless. The Dreamcast did get hot (even with 2 extra 5v dreamcast fans added) so this morning I re positioned the fans and added some extra cooling vents which has greatly improved the airflow and it seems to stay a lot cooler.

    Cheers, thanks! That's helpful!

Ouch, it's useful to hear that with even TWO fans things are STILL a bit hot! I had a single spare 5v Dreamcast fan I was going to use over on the power supply . . . looks like I will have to up the ante! Maybe a fan near the intake, as well . . .

I don't want to punch holes in the side of my case. It's a clear aftermarket one, they are hard to come by. I don't need holes in it!

Looks like no one else has any input or experience with them, so I think I will get hold of a UHS-1 card and see if there is a difference with it and simple Class 10 ones.

    Thanks again, happy gaming!

The 2 fans I added initially were not really positioned right for good airflow through the console - I kind of just stuck them in and hoped for the best. Upon looking at it properly I knew straight away I could re position them in a better way. I also don't like to mess to much with the look of the console and will be re-shelling the whole thing into a new shell at some point.

I want to have it look like a normal Dreamcast from the outside so will find a better way to fit the fans without cutting holes in the side. (pretty sure a 12v silent fan is the way to go).

Also worth noting that the Dreamcast ran faultlessly even though it was a little hotter than normal - I'd just rather have it running as cool as possible.

Have that many people had cooling issues? Doesn't seem to be.

Afaiu people freak out because the console is like 5C over normal because of modified airflow, but none has had crashes so far. Personally, I don't own a gdemu, but I've ran my DC without a shell and metal shield for hours without a single problem. That thing's sturdy!

I agree. I see alot of complaining about air flow and temps but no real-world problems as far as I have seen.

this, I'd rather have it running cool as possible but it seems fine without any modifications

Reading up on a few things, particularly GD-ROM removal and replacement with HDD or CF, I read somewhere over the weekend about having to use a 33.868 Mhz oscillator if using HDD without GD-ROM installed.

Is this correct, and if it is, are there any schematics showing how this is achieved?

And are there any other hardware adjustments that need to be made to the Dreamcast to allow it to work without GD-ROM installed? (besides BIOS mod and/or SD adaptor use)

Yea one of mine is clear shelled and the other a Sega sports with an official clear yellow top, looks like a bumble bee so case modding is out of the question. That is why I keep my SD card mod from helder internal. Once mine is done I'll have to sort something out but thanks for the heads up.

can you tell us the estimated price of the g1ide-adv? and how exactly are you thinking to make it work?
