Whoa, cool mod idea! I had forgotten about the karaoke accessory, that would indeed be a great base to start on.

Reset button on the controller, eh? I'd like to know more! I know the reset point on the motherboard, and have made quite a few mods with reset buttons on the case to connect to that point. I don't know the controller reset mod, though.

Would you just add another wire to a standard controller and maybe neatly attach it to the existing cable (heatshrink tubing to the rescue!), or is there an "extra" wire available already in the cable and a way to tap it from the controller port?

 

I am not really sure about that, but I have seen it made once. I would recon it must be wired to the board.

 

Has anyone had a successful Western Union transaction with Mnemo? He seems trustworthy, but that idea just rubs me the wrong way generally speaking

 

Many of us have done WU with him here and all of us are happy so far. I would say almost 8 people I think. I gave him $400 WU for a few items and they are still in transit but i had my EMS number within 5 hrs of him getting the payment.
Getting him the payment was another story, and you are free to read my rants. It was a PINA (pain the arse) but many people had NO ISSUES at all.

Paypal for him is a huge inconvenience, I even offered him a GIFT PAYMENT (same as a WU basically - no protection) and he turned it down. He is taking WU only right now.

Personally From what I read from other users here, Both EU and USA - Not a single person has had a issue with MNEMO.

It rubbed me the wrong way too, but I decided to do it as this product seems special.

Well would a USB splitter work for adding games to it from the front of the zip drive with a hdd?

 

You mean a USB Hub?

Well the controller is already acting as a host so in theory, yes - but it will need actual ZIP drive drivers. (Seriously ZIP Drives? USB ZIP Drives when you have virtually unlimited HDD storage?)

mine is stuck 2 days now in "Left postal office Ips - Send item abroad (Export) @ 04.09.2014 10:26" , I wonder what kind of EMS service they have over there , here if you send something with EMS you pay a premium but the item gets delivered in 2~5 days globally....

 

I would say, from there up to 2-3 weeks is certainly normal.... The last time I ordered something from this country, it took 2 weeks to reach me....

 

How easy is the USB-GDROM Controller to install, is it as simple as disconnecting and removing the GDROM and plugging in the new board with a minor case mod?

You might want to spend some time reading from page 1, or at least scanning back a few dozen pages to get up to date.

Some folks get bent out of shape when a newb comes along and asks a basic question that has been answered, rather than looking about a bit.

Thank you for the information, link and the welcome. Glad to be a member here and in the Dreamcast community! I recently dusted down my Dreamcast, replaced the battery and am interested in purchasing the USB-GDROM.

I read quite a few pages of this topic and didn't see the assembly information, I obviously didn't get as far as page 70. Maybe it would be good to split the topic with the photos and information about it so that it is easier to find.

Well this topic goes a few different ways. The USB GDROM replacement is just one device. There are several devices here. There is GDEMU SD card device from another developer and there are Two other guys here looking at making their own devices as well. SO the topic pretty much covers all of them and everyone is using the topic to discuss all the variations at the same time.

 

Yeah - can someone bother making a thread for EACH device; and then only talk about that specific ONE device is each separate thread?

 

I would assume anyone is welcome to make a thread dedicated to what they want to talk about, but as for making it official, that comes down to the community, if more people choose to contine to share their threads here than in a newly created one than that is how it is going to be.
