I got a response "USB Dreamcast GDROM Controller" Immediately I said yes, I am very interested in purchase. Nothing.

 

The problem with that is that there will inevitably be comparisons to the other devices, and then it becomes a lot harder to keep the thread tidy/decide when it is 'off-topic'...

 

Well i did sorta start a compare thread lol... but I do find good info on this thread... just have to take time and read through it and then check on it at least 1 time a day to keep current... Both are great options... GDemu is Awesome if u dont want stuff hanging out of your system and will be better he makes a menu system so you can pick your games from controller instead of the button on the board. USB GDrom controller is awesome due to its support of large hard drives and already working menu select set up.... when both are FULLY updated and all their tiny stuff worked out... the only negatives will be preference... one will be limited size while the other is omg something is hanging out the back.

see now its just down to price and who is available... as long as both support GDI dumps and they do and both have full compatibility with the games including online features and last i heard they do... all that was making me want USB gdrom more over GDemu was that button... and File size limit.. but hey i can live with only having less than 40 games on there at a time... lol

I know GDEMU guy is planning at least 1 more run... but idk about USB GDROM guy... I want 1 or the other... and need to save up some cash for when they do pop back up... im so broke couldnt even buy a $100 BBA for my dc...

braintrash could u translate for me..... I think that means what normally would break the disc image.. like custom music tracks that are bigger than original music ect... is that correct? so that means custom games may become a bigger deal? I know we are still limited by the ram... still blows my mind DC has such limited ram...but yet still looks great IMO

 

You are right, excepted RAM is not an issue here.
Just if you have a dubbed game where you add original language voices while keeping the localized ones, you end up with a bigger archive, most likely oversized compared to what a GD-ROM can store. But since the game only load one of them (either the original or localized one), it doesn't matter for the RAM.

 

neuroacid is the developer but i can tell you that the menu is functional and improving Deunan and neuroacid cooperate to make it perfect

 

I was thinking Texture mods. Like the ones made by Greenranger over at DCF... his mods for DOA are really good but lacking only because he had to keep the same file size or less. also read about mods being done to sonic adventure 1.. so would be cool to see what can be done. Also dont forget there is that new game coming out Dec of next year that is also releasing the game engine free with the game... the game engine has a export button for dreamcast

 

Very good! I can't wait to have this menu. Not having this menu is the only negative point I can give to gdemu...
But this is just a start, I am sure we will get beautiful things with jacket and more in near future..

Would it be not possible for dc-swat to add support for gdemu and usb-gdrom and use it as universal launcher ?

 

For that, yeah, you have the limit of RAM, but the engine could also have its own limit.

Does (or will) your awesome SD Card Maker support the new 64 images option?

 

already spoke with developer and they said it can load HD textures but to be cautious of the Dreamcast ram limitation.
