You're totally right, and I'm unfortunately learning that the hard way. I have a consumer-grade Canon scanner w/ 35mm tray that I scanned those with, but I had to sharpen the shit out of them in Photoshop to make them presentable at anything above 640x480. There's a scanner I'm looking into which is dedicated. Runs about $350. It's apparently quite good. Will probably get it rather sooner or later as I don't want to rescan things too much.

For an extra 400 yen I can get a roll scanned in by the guys that develop it, but this varies greatly from store to store. Yodobashi requires a few days to do it and the quality is somewhat good, but still low in the big spectrum, and jpg. Camera no Kitamura does it same day, but is a truly awful scan. :-/

Oh, there's apparently an awesome film scanner out there to the tune of $2500 USD. Yowza!

Man, sounds like it's still tricky but the results from the scanning still looks good. Makes me feel a bit better to have waited for DSLR - I would have burned up so much cash working with film!!

Apparently getting the same colors off of the color negative on to paper or the screen is tedious work, if you want 100% accuracy. I'm not that hard core about it... at least not yet. I like the default colors I get when scanning... in truth though, I'm likely to go majority B&W.

Yep. I actually got some drink tickets to shoot the event. That's College -- if you saw Drive, you've heard at least one of his tunes. ;)

I took my son down to the civic pool today. I was originally going to take my DLSR but then though against it. Luckily my phone is water proof to 10 meters so.....

The following two pictures are frame grabs from a 1080p video I was shooting in the pool.

Good photos Yakumo! Frame grabs are especially good because the shutter speed is usually high enough to get some interesting shots (e.g. the water in the top one).

And nice work GP, as always ;)

I've been absent from the forum for a while, but have still been dumping photos onto Flickr and my blog. Here's a recent selection:

Trip to nice and cool Takao-san? I went there a few years ago. I wonder what that place was like 200 years ago. Cool shit. I like all those statues.

Yeah, my brother hadn't been. I think it's my third-time? 200 years ago, there wouldn't have been an all-you-can-eat-all-you-can-drink 2-hour buffet near the summit, nor toilets and vending machines. Other than that, the temples and statues are wicked ;)

I was more interested in the inhabitants of said mountain... although these days ,the nomihoudai is far more important.

Oh, nomihoudai. had one of them on Saturday along with Karaoke. man, I was with a lady friend who loves 80's music. man, we sang some shit and some good stuff too. From 80's rock to UK pop from Stock Aiken and Waterman. For a Japanese woman she knows an awful lot of 80's western music. Even some 70's rock was thrown in.

I actually thought that a great name for a porn series featuring western guys and J-gals would be Cumming and Going. Of course, only a handful of people would get it.

That's assuming Japanese women actually have orgasms. Something I don't know, and don't really care to know.
