Any have a list at all? I'm wanting to create a list about the XBOX Dashboard on the Archive but can't seem to find any history about the versions.
I interested in kernel versions, too. Finding the original kernels is rather difficult, too - web sites seem to only have hacked versions for download now.
We could figure out bits and pieces. I try since my first modchip never to upgrade a box before checking the kernel and dash version. What if we dump them ourselves, check the version, compile date, file location and such? comparing the source with versions before and after might also reviel true updates, bug fixxs and just new additions like xbox live and the softmod fixxes. i got 2 weeks off, next to python i want to work on things like this (and my own fatx explorer)
Count me in for this project! I have the following kernels and Dashboards backed up from my unmodded Xbox'es: Kernel: -1.00.4034.01 -1.00.4817.01 -1.00.5101.01 -1.00.5713.01 Dashboard: -1.00.4034.01 -1.00.4817.01 -1.00.4920.01 -1.00.5659.03 -1.00.5960.01
Thanks so much N64 freak!! I'll definitely back up the dashes but allow them to be publically available by FTP can cause a lot of legal issues I think. Anyhow, let me know by PM if you're still willing to share them with me, I'll put on my own FTP for safe keeping. Also, your information has been added to the Archive and you are credited. http://xboxarchive.co.uk/doku.php?id=operating_system:start
Just wondering if the PROGRAMA sticker on the hard drives have the Kernel Versions on it, I noticed on my 11-8-01 Launch console, it had 3944 1[!] 2[] 3[] 4[] on the sticker and another ver 1.0 had 4034
A friend of mine has some motherboards that were damaged in the very early days of modding and from him trying to do the RAM upgrade from 2003ish. Is there a way to get the kernals from those boards? I can desolder whatever you want and send it to the right person for dumping.
Yes it's possible to backup the kernel of the broken boards. You just need the tsop flash chip. Then you can back them up with an eeprom reader or another xbox. Could Do that if you like!
Just remove the TSOP chip and put it in the proper EEPROM reader. The TSOP chip is nothing more than a EEPROM chip. Can even program it externally if needed.
That's more likely to be the dashboard version than the kernel version. I suppose that your 1.0 system was made in Mexico. Mine was made in Hungary and doesn't have that "programa" label, but other Xboxes I have do. I'll have a 3944 kernel dump soon, but I don't have the 3944 dashboard anymore.
Nope, cant find them. And ive been there alott. And the main reason its not there, just like Games, demo's or official dev tools like SDK's or recoverys is that they always kept a "legal only" rule. Some autoinstallers also have only a nfo file and maybe some torrent link (so they dont host MS code) I dont have updates so far myself. but Xbins is Homebrew code and tools only. (including all bios files and stuff, but maybe some hidden hacked ms code is there) no MS dash, kernel or other "non-free" or iligal content.
I have some old retail BIOS dumps, and some dashboards which N64Freak has. Not sure how many we are currently missing.
These are the kernels that I documented some years ago for the redump.org project: 1.00.3944.01 (v1.0 - 1MB TSOP - crc32=32a9ecb6) 1.00.4034.01 (v1.0 - 1MB TSOP - crc32=0d6fc88f) 1.00.4817.01 (v1.1 - 1MB TSOP - crc32=3f30863a) 1.00.5101.01 (v1.2/v1.3/v1.4/v1.5 - 256kb TSOP - crc32=e8a9224e) 1.00.5530.01 (v1.4/v1.5 - 256kb TSOP - crc32=9569c4d3) 1.00.5713.01 (v1.4/v1.5 - 256kb TSOP - crc32=58fd8173) 1.00.5838.01 (v1.6 - 256kb TSOP - crc32=5be2413d) There was also a 1.00.4627.01 kernel, but I don't know if it was legit and could be found in retail models.. If anyone happens to have an Xbox with that kernel, lemme know. edit: and also a 4972 kernel, but afaik it's by Xecutor and not retail
Here's some info from google search...kinda some xbox bios/kernel version's. http://www.eurasia.nu/wiki/index.php/XboxVersionTable and this has alot of useful info too http://www.informit.com/articles/article.aspx?p=367210&seqNum=2
The problem with most of the info about kernels is that it's unconfirmed info, or just plain wrong info reproduced from other posts.. Your links mention a 4036 kernel for instance, but that was a typo in another article (afaik no such kernel exists, only 4034).. The 4627 kernel is probably the only one that could still be missing.. And I guess there's some SDK kernels missing too.. Maybe someone here has one or more of those and is willing to contribute the info.
Checking my Japanese Xboxes. First one is 4034.01 Dash and Kernel Second is: K:4034.01 D: 4920.01 Third is also 4034.01 for both Modded 1.6 box says (which is likely not accurate, mind you) K: 5032.01 D: 5960.01
