According to a streaming video report on CBS5.com, 8-year-old Shea O'Gorman tried to write a letter to Steve Jobs with recommendations on how to make the iPod nano better as part of her 3rd grade class's project in letter-writing. The response she got in the mail from Apple was, as most of us would expect, a form letter from Apple's legal department outlining the company's official policy on (not) accepting unsolicited product ideas

    Here's how:

Clearly, the purpose of this policy is to protect the submission-writer as well as Apple from any legal mishaps that may happen if Apple were to ever employ a technology that was similar to the one submitted. However, the whole family had gathered around to read Apple's response to little Shea's letter, and when she read it, she apparently threw the letter up in the air and ran to her room to cry. The girl's mother was outraged at what she considered to be an overly harsh and unwelcoming response from a company that promotes itself as supportive of education. Despite how much many of us would like to make fun of this story, it turns out that because of the coverage that little Shea's plight has received, Apple's legal department called to make an apology and informed CBS5 that they were re-evaluating their policy on response letters to idea submissions from children.

Holy shit, so this soon to be bitch get's a corporative change, while this poor guy who got scammed by an oficial Apple Reseller for more than 2K gets shit...

    What a wonderful world:-(

She's an eight year old so I doubt she understood why. I'd cut her some slack. The parents on the other hand...

If kids today are bad, then parents are the worst...

I mean just look at the hot coffee scandal: they (the parents) are reluctant to see the truth, and that's that if a kid can download a patch from the net he sure can download nastier things that 2 low-poly characters having sex.

I'd say show kids the real world.

If they're old enough to use an ipod, they can understand what an official stance of a company against unsolicited ideas is.

Kids are more clever than most people want to admit - they don't drink, they don't smoke weed, and they have minds like sponges, which puts them in a favourable position compared to quite a few adults-.

I remember when I sent one of my ideas back when I was a kid. Man did the reply sting, but at least I took it like a man, because my parents were patient enough to sit down and explain what goes on in the world. Most parents want their kids to live in fairy-tale fantasies of acceptance. Tough break. Some kids have to work at that age in some unfortunate countries, you never hear them complain about anything though, ironic isn't it?

Haha dude, I had a TON of ideas for inventions when I was a kid, but I never send them to anybody since my grandpa (who's an engineer) used to told me stories about Tesla, Diesel, and others great inventors who got their ideas stolen or just smashed.

What's funny is that some of my ideas actually became a reality. Is like the radio: two guys had the same idea at the same time.

About kids in sweatshops, they get bitchslapped all the time, so I doubt they can complain about anything...

Man my parents never beated me, that isnt the only way around.

But they didnt told me to bitch about everything, nor they did buy me every shit I wanted to own.

There's a hell of a difference between a kid beater, a responsible father and a stupid aging generation X who has a kid cuz all his friends are doing the same (this last one being the one of the little bitching girl).

Not all kids need to be beaten to comprehend a situation. But it is commonly accepted that some kids just won't compromise their conduct if not out of fear. Parents who do beat a kid, don't do it out of disrespect or with malicious intent I would like to believe (most of them at least), but rather to make proper people out of them, to behave and to be socialy acceptable.

That statement is corporate BS to placate the parents and the media. I write letters advising clients that we plan to change policy all the time, but we never do. It's just to make them feel they have got a result from their complaint.

I'm not sure calling an 8 year old a bitch because she got upset over a rejection is acceptable really. What world do you live on? The parents shouldn't have made such a big deal about it of course, but it was a learning experience (one would assume), and I'm sure you have reacted badly to rejection in the past. Also, it won't do Apple any harm to actually read the correspondence they receive and react to it in a less generic way, at least not if they want to keep the consumers sweet.

I think sending a form letter to a kid is a heartless thing to do. It'd be like the postal service sending back a postcard on Dec. 26: "There's no land on the North Pole, kid; and as such, no address. Ask your parents if you want something from 'Santa'."

And I agree with the girl and her parents. Didn't anyone here ever take civics lessons in school? If you don't like something, raise a stink (not a legal one, mind you.)

Add 8 years and you got a full-bitch.

Look this girls is the prototype for the kind of shitty people you see everyday. You know, those that because they can afford a lawyer think they can do whatever they want.

Soon they end up in jail or something for yelling at a cop or a judge...

And babu, in that case you don't need a condom, you need a shotgun:rambo:

Shadowlayer: I have never thought of saying, bitch to an 8 year old girl . And I think I will never do it.

A bitch in female form (not the female dog) is a girl that will piss you off deliberately, right before you are going to sing after her, in front of over 150 people. And you will shout some kind of profanity, I shouted "hookerbroom to the cunt, bitch , slut what ever word you want to say, since my sister said "bag" in her review of her, and in Denmark dirtbag is a female profanity about a girl. Anyway I went out afterwards, and smoked a cigarette, both of nerves, and anger, because I was next to sing, and I did sing great at the time, and I am not shitting you. At the moment, I have only a speaking voice, but I can get my singing voice back because I have quit smoking.

Anyway that girl was a bitch. Not the 8 year old girl, and by the way I got a bigger applause than the shitbitch and her doobie band around her got. And the audience knew whos fault it was, why I shouted out. Oh well it was fun back then :) it is just a damn shame, that I don´t have that video of me singing .
