I mean CD console, not the insert disk 1, 2, 3, 5, 4, 2, 1 ... Amiga style or the infinite ñeeeeweeeewiiiiuuuuiiiiiisssssss loading times of Spectrum, CPC, MSX, etc. The longest and most anoying i've ever seen, by far, were the Soldier of Fortune on Dreamcast ones, you can go for a walk while waiting and there are like 50-60 loading times through entire game. I wish it can be optimized, hope ReviveDC check it out. The Mafia: The Lost Heaven on Playstation 2 loading times (three, located in city bridges) are insane too, but not as close. I've seen people claiming about WWE07 on PSP ... c'mon ... it loads almost instantly from the MS, yeah, there are a lot of anoying screens, but loading times are not long, from UMD, at all.
From MS it was like 5% of this time (i've never played from UMD) and most of the time they are not loading screens, just nonsense animations, logos and so.
Real loading time GIF from the game, i'm recording. From the first black screen frame to the last frame before the ingame screen. 30FPS.
Incredible no one posted this yet Mercenaries on PS2 had terrible loading as well. Installing in on HDLoader helped it a lot! GT5 used to have annoying loading time as well, but that was fixed / reduced after so many game updates. Also remembered this one because of Neogaf
I was playing Final Fantasy 9, the disc was really badly scratched up and shocked me that it worked. it took an hour to load one of the maps. didn't think it would lol
I have no idea. The first 10 seconds is enough! I dare anyone to watch the whole thing before beating their heads on the keyboard.
Why would anyone want to put their laser through such strain. If it's scratched resurface it or throw it in the bin I remember Dragon Riders on Dreamcast was on the slow side
Booting up the sims 2 for the first time when all the expansions and stuff packs are installed is quite a load time - load 'a shit!
Gran Turismo 5 for me, I didn't keep the game long enough for the eventual patches to fix the issue. That game was in development for so long anyways you'd think they would have had fast loading from day 1.
Most games on the NeoGeo CD and many on the PlayStation, PlayStation 2 and maybe but I don't know to be honest PlayStation 3. Sony's consoles have pretty long loading times. Even saving to a memory card on a PlayStation made you wait. But the game I felt disgusted with was No More Heroes on the XBOX360. That has the longest loading times in any game I've ever played and very often as well. What makes it worse is that the Wii version loads in less than half the time!
