I think it's because it's common knowledge that the Neo CD was pretty awful when it came to loading just like the old 8bit computers that used tapes.

No one said 15 minutes. Infact the loading times are locked to 2,5 minutes, even for some cinematics (i mean, only for loading cinematics, not cinematics+level).

I've seen real hardware on Youtube and the longest loading time i've seen its the initial one, from the intro to the game, about 1:20-1:30 minutes, then the loading one from citys to map, around 30 seconds and ... to be fair the loading to the battle is no more than 5 seconds.

Is this an overpowered Neo Geo CD or what?.

If you want slow then play some Mega/Sega CD games on a system. That x1 speed drive will teach you some patience.

Loading battles is much longer than 5 seconds. I'll pull it out on my CDZ and try it when I get back home. Even the Saturn and PS versions are nowhere close to only 5 seconds for loading battle encounters.

Thats what i can see in that video, using real hardware as you can see on the begining ...

    Anyway, another SOF video.

The only 'short' loading time of the entire game to load a fucking room with 2 ppl (just in order to render an unnecesary cinematic) and then the standar loading time xD.

What games ? Played a few RPGs, Snatcher and a ton of other games on real hardware. Loading times are ok, nothing like NGCD. Well i got Genesis CDX, but i had Mega CD1 back then, had no problems with really long loading screens either.

Does anyone remember how terible the load times were on the ps2 version of the Sonic 10th anniversary mega collection? I tried playing it a few months back but it takes more than a minute to load the damn games and it completly reloads them if you die(which happends a lot with a playstation controller). Literally makes it terrible to play and almost unplayable.

I don't know, isn't Mortal Kombat have really long load times for just doing some moves? One game I am playing right now is Dark Wizard, if you have it set to show the battle. Then you have to wait for it to load the battle, then wait for it to load back to the main game. :/

This is on a real SEGA-CD machine, I don't know what it would be like in a emulator.

Monkey Island and Willy Beamish are two that come to mind.

Now that you mention Sonic, I guess the Sonic (360/PS3) game should be mentioned in this thread. A single load time in that game was rough, but considering that you could have 3-4 load times back to back (load time to talk to a guy, load time out of conversation, load time to start mission), the game became unbearable. I never did beat it, and the reason was completely on the load times. Well, the load times and the glitches. I kept falling through the floor of some level and as a result I'd get 3-4 load times in a row everytime I wanted to try again... I eventually just quit.

Spikeout Battle Street on Xbox had some wicked awful load times during the storyline. Whenever you had to start a stage over, you had to sit through an extremely lengthy amount of load times, which they tried to hide by playing prerendered cutscenes...midway into the cutscene you could eventually go to the gameplay, but it was very, very lengthy. Pretty brutally difficult game, so you'll be sitting through those load times a hell of a lot.

The console versions of Space Hulk: Vengeance of the Blood Angels also had some seriously bad load times before each mission (and whenever you had to retry). I'm not sure which is worse between the Saturn and 3DO versions, but if you ever want to play it, for the love of god, just get the PC release.

Those are probably two of the biggest offenders that I know of.
