I swore I read somewhere that there was some Korean / Chinese guy who suddenly stopped sleeping altogether. And no, he isn't addicted to Starcraft, he's a farmer or something.
I saw this, too. He's supposedly been awake for 20something years. I showed the article to my psychology teacher; she said it's possible he just has short black-outs and doesn't remember them. I really don't know what to think of it, to be honest. Staying awake past 24 hours has me feeling like a zombie. I would hate to think of anything long-term like that. Apparently he gets along just fine, though (assuming it's a legitimate case).
longest I have stayed up for would be 2 days, I been going to be by 12am, I always seems to stay up late when I'm too lazy to do anything. I'm basically a late nighter
About 38 hours is my max too, back when I was addicted to star wars galaxies. I can't seem to last longer than about 24 hours anymore.
My "record" is about 3 days, and I've done it twice. At some random LAN-party when I was young, and when I was in the army.
The longest i've stayed awake would probably be 48 hours when i was younger, can't remember where it was some camp trip i went on and me and my friends wanted to do an all nighter which i did two nights in a row. I guess it was mainly because unless i'm in my own bed or somewhere familiar like at my sisters then i find it hard to get to sleep easily so i tend to stay awake longer.
I got a serious bout of insomnia from some medication I was taking. I only stuck it a few weeks but during that time I was getting maybe 3-4 hours per 48 hour stretch. It was absolutely brutal, and it fucked with my head in ways no illegal drug has ever come close to.
Somewhere around the 36 hours when I was heavily jetlagged after a 10 hour flight. I normally can't stay awake too long but jetlags are never nice on me.
Hmmm, 24~32 hours or so, in the good ole N64 days. Playing a whole weekend with friends and melting the step-down converter along the way, oh such good memories
