Hm... perhaps I should give it another chance. I own it, but I've only played the first 30-45 minutes or so of the game.

It is hard to get into it, you really need to force yourself but it is possible, I played through the PAL and Japanese versions :D

I'd recommend it. I know it's not the most polished game but I still dig it.

Still looking for betas/protos of Blue Stinger, Ninja Gaiden (1,2 or 3) and Resident Evil Code Veronica.

Looking for prototypes of Ninja Gaiden 1, 2 or 3 for the NES or Famicom. Also interested in Ninja Gaiden GB and Atari Lynx.

Interested in a proto of Blue Stinger.

Found stills of the CV beta but nothing to actually play. I'd be interested in demos or protos of Code Veronica.

It was for the game. A search for "Code Veronica" and "StreetTrash" (the password provided for those archives) reveals this thread, which lists the same Megaupload links but identifies the game as the Trial Edition, instead of "Beta 3" (the "beta X" nomenclature is more often given to the pre-release versions of Biohazard 1 and 2--simple mistake by the guy who created the thread, I think.)

A cursory glance shows that working download links for the Trial Edition are not too difficult to find...

To make sure I'm understanding you correctly, the 'Beta 3' link was actually just the 'Trial Edition'?

Sure looks that way. There's a few other places that list those same Megaupload links but list the download as being for the Trial Edition. The filesizes seem to add up and I can find no other reference to a "beta 3" of Code: Veronica outside of that thread and this one from the same forum. It looks like Survivhor identified the Trial Edition as "Beta 3" back in 2007 which is what caused this confusion.

Ah man I was hoping to experience the Code Veronica you see only screenshots of. Ah well, thanks for helping me.

    Cheers ;)

    [edit]

I found out through an old archived german post that there was a Beta version of Blue Stinger floating around during the Dreamcast Launch due to Sega accidentally shipping the beta instead of the finished product.. So I can say that someone somewhere has to have it...

So according to this text, beta GD-Rs were used as masters and were mass produced, so the resulting discs were only able to be played using a System Disc 2 first, and they don't contain the final game. Interesting. So if I come across one of those faulty launch US Sonic Adventure's, I could play it by pre-loading it with a System Disc 2 first, right?

    I need to try :D

Really? That is very interesting if true. I thought those were all just faulty discs, not "dev kit" material. I have a copy of SA that didn't run, even though it was sealed brand new. Don't have a system disc 2, however.

They were just faulty disks, Ive never heard to SD2 rumor. Some disks would not work at all, or more unlucky, they would freeze during different parts, which is what happened with mine.

This reminded me of Alone in the Dark, I have two copies of it and neither will play on my Dreamcast. Only game I've come across with that problem; gets to Dreamcast logo and stops.
