Most of these games are in the budget bins, So I don't really see these early-codes as piracy. Unless for example you can play Q3 beta online on the public servers.
As someone said before me, almost all (or all) theses betas are already leaked and can be found on irc/usenet/torrents ... Also, some games are relatively new (doom3 hl2) and the hl2 beta IS WAREZ, and valve is pissed about it.(It has been leaked before te released of hl2 from a random hacker that used a fail in outlook, he found the gabe newelloutlook password with luck and used this fail to hack him and upload hl2beta sopmewhere then release.) So I don't see why theses should be released by assemblergames ... Thank you !
This is very true your thinking about the wrong thing -=FamilyGuy=- if you go back to the first page a read the posts close to the bottom all will be explained since I was a little skeptic about it myself
Sorry if I misunderstood this, but my guess is that if they were pissed by a first beta release, they'd be by a second. Plus, HL2 is still being sold in stores and on steam. About the Doom3 and HL2 stuff, I'd say "Do nothing under the assemblergames name to avoid trouble..." For the older games, I don't see anything warez-looking... Just my 2 cents... -=FamilyGuy=-
My take is that they are too recent to be released, HL2 Ep2 is too sensitive to risk a release here, remember the HL2 source code leak debacle? Doom 3 is quite recent and an alpha was leaked a few years ago. They all sound interesting but a tad out of the scope of this forum, which is mainly console oriented. I'd be very interested indeed to get my hands on them but I guess they would be prone to make Windows crash often... Sabre
Guys, read the rest of the thread before you post. Its not actually Halflife 2 episode 2. Its a particle test that was released by Valve. And in response to Karsten, I think it needs to be a bit more strict then that, as every developer has their own idea of alpha / beta / (Final even hah, ever see some of those released games? XD)
Oups sorry, though I wouldn't touch anything recent from Valve, these guys could get really pissed in the light of what happened to them. Thouhg if it remains tightly in the 0bit section then why not. Sabre
Fair enough, wasn't aware of this, Episode 1 was so buggy & crap that I stopped to look at what Valve are up to these days. Cheers Sabre
All but the Doom3 alpha should be clear as far as piracy. I am especially interested in anything Unreal.
Just release some unreleased/cancelled PC Games. I think unreleased games have a higher priority than beta games, since betas were eventually released - at least the ones you just listed. Unless its like DukeNukem Forever Beta or if there are very significant, if not entirely different gameplay differences in both the beta and final version.
Most of the cooler cut stuff for HL2 is available in a mod called "Missing Information". Damn cool stuff in there along with some maps they showed off way back when in a video. Can't remember what video now but a guy asked if it could run on his 486.
The E3 video ... At least for one map, They were working on a boat map (unreleased but needs to be tweaked to works on the current hl2 engine rather than on the beta) This mod totally rock.
I share the same opinion! I really dont care much about FPS's and american pc gaming but Im sure all ASSEMblergames members would enjoy these as much as any other proto. But IMHO none of these are of real interest to a "gamer", I dont see all the UT/fps kiddies caring about incomplete versions of the games which will have more bugs in physics and stuff like that which they already whine about in the final versions.
I would kill for an early version of Ultima IX: Ascension. I've got an alpha build of version 4, but that's not that interesting. I really hope that the almost complete build of version 2 will leak someday, though I know that will most likely never happen.
I mainly only care about older PC game betas (1990's/early 2000's). So many games have a ton of coverage from conception to finish these days, there doesn't seem much of a point of grabbing the early versions (to me, at least). If anyone has early versions of any of the Elder Scrolls games, though, feel free to send me a PM .
