looking for Retron 5 hack to play Roms

@ootwii mk advance and deadly towers too (but the konami code one is still my favorite easter egg just because of how long i stared at the code reverse engineering it before this random byte array suddenly jumped out at me as up up down down etc)

 

Please use the edit button rather than double posting, people! This thread is getting quite long, which is great... but unnecessary double posts don't help. Especially when you're doing something as simple as correcting a spelling mistake.

 

I would love to get my hands on this, beats the IPS workaround (though it isn't bad) and definitely beats using the real cartridge every time...

Seems like u need the fds bios file in a separate folders:
retrofreak/BIOS/disksys.rom
load any ips without cartridge

 

Is that video from RetroNLabo showing something new we're not aware of? I'm pretty new to the Retron 5 world, but isnt that video just showing the IPS patching method? Or was that something different.

I'm still trying to get myself caught up to this scene. BTW its April 2015 as I write this. Do we have a better way to run ROMS after than the IPS patching?

 

From what RetroNLabo says it's another console like the Retron5 that's coming out in Japan, not yet released...

I wonder how does the Retrofreak looks like? It maybe a Retron5 clone? Does it offer anything better? Same emulation as Retron5 or something that they developed? Looks like it supports hucards too!

Thanks Riboot, I've been using my NES30 and SFC30 with mine. I was getting it wrong setting the buttons to left arrow/down arrow etc but got there in the end. Wish Labo would release his blooming hack now

is this hack even real???that rom patchin is just too much hassle..if i buy an nes30 is it easy to pair to retron 5 and if so how do u pair it???i like the retron 5 but i do wish i had the option to play rom or cart...my biggest complaint with he rretron 5 is the controller...im glad i got original conrollers..

@ootwii No idea what RetronLabo is up to. I think it will never see the light of day. He never replies, I've tweeted him so many times (although I've given up now with him - if you read this RL hi, I give up). That said ootwii if you get a nes30 let me know and I'll make sure you get the compatible firmware for it. Oh have you tried 2.3 beta 2 yet? IPS patching still working?

 

run saber still played fine ...i hope hyperkin makes an n64 attachment for the retron 5 at e3...

 

Why is there no standard bilinear, trilinear or dithering type filter, all the available filters seem to alter the look of the graphics and add some bicubic filtering than just looks awful. Im not a fan of the pixelated look when no filter is used all the other filters add some nasty filtering, i just want a bog standard bilinear filter to smooth the pixelation out!!

Also an option to adjust the scanline intensity, thickness and be able to shift the scanlines up or down a pixel at a time

I don't know what this means exactly, but on his twitter, about 11 hours, ago, from now... he posted something, all Japanese... translators, can give you a brief subject.. but still not that good, he has released a site called.. http://www.retronlabo.com/... it has a donate button, something about he needs donations to help with storage space or something, then it says input your twitter name, I am unsure if this means, if you donate, you get the hack, its all very vague and doesn't make much sense to me
