Probably. That's why I hardly ever play Forza 3 online. The amount of shit players who just ram you off the road is annoying to say the least.
along with some friends we are arranging some tournaments with limited specs: 2000cc max 300Hp max min 1100kgs beside that free tuning. I've never had so much fun with an online racer!
I went online this weekend and then pratically everybody on my friends list was playing GT5 Karsten, Nev, Concept, and many others. Can't wait to race you guys.
I never played the game, but if they implemented some kind of battle damage, it probably would stop that right away. Sure you could take someone out, but your car would be messed up and you'd loose the race by default.
I am so disappointed with this game. Not only do I think that they didn't really improve or innovate anything (aside from the # of cars on the track) but that in a lot of ways they went backwards and made a game that is inferior to GT4.
I hate the fact that there is only online play and no LAN networking. Oh and if you don't want to go online, it will ask you at least 3 times if you want to sign in (before menu, at menu and after you select GT mode....) just in case you weren't sure if you meant no... Probably because of this there is no multiscreen support... If the PS2 with GT4 (and GT3...) can do it and Forza 3 on the Xbox 360 can do it why can't GT5?
after 70+ hours of gameplay i strongly disagree. I had the same impression at the very beginning. It's a gem but it get unveiled little by little in a long time of gameplay. give it its time to grow on you and you'll see!
I'm surprised with the reviews its getting, but like Karsten is saying, I think people might need to play it more
Overal it is a fantastic game but their are too many niggly things that make it a lot worse then GT4. For example in Arcade mode in GT4, you choose the vechicle you wanted to drive by choosing the maker which was sorted by country and then you choose the car in GT5 you just get a annoyingly long list of cars, so unless you make a favourites list it is annoying to find a car. It would be nice if you could sort the cars out but you can't. You can read information on a car by pressing triangle, however to finish reading you press triangle rather then the more logical X or O (depending if you have a Japanese or Western version). In GT4 you could drive most of the original tracks in reverse just by selecting them and choosing reverse (or normal) in GT5 to make it look like there are more tracks they have the track listed as two tracks (normal and reverse) and sometimes with wet weather... Garage mode is a lot less advance then it was in GT4. But as mentioned above my overall hate is lack of LAN mode or Multiscreen mode...
I decided to give it a few days like you said before I replied and while I have warmed up to it a little more I still stick by my claims. First let's start with the areas where I think they went backwards and made it worse than GT4. Not being able to use previous game saves to at least pass the license test Having to reach a level to use a car is BS Having to do the same in B-spec is even more BS Not being able to speed up time in B-spec (Doubt I'll ever get any extreme event cars now) They no longer let you clear winnings so you can win duplicate cars No longer being able to upgrade brakes Unable to alter individual gear ratios No manufacturer races The menu interface is clunky and inferior to GT4 That is a big list of things to make worse than the last game. What's more they didn't even seem to bother fixing some of the major flaws that have plagued the series from the beginning. The AI is still horrible and the best way too win is to still plow through and pinball your way through the race. They are still missing major manufacturer's like Porsche and Koenigsegg which is unforgivable at this point. Upgrading is still generic. The cars still all sound the same on the track which I suppose is fine since a lot of times you can't really tell that your driving one car from another. Most of these issues Forza has risen the bar on and GT has once again ignored them. This game feels like it was made by a group of people with severe ADD. It's like they come up with a new idea they love and then midway into developing it think of something new. Then they just half-ass their way through their last idea to start the new one. The real kicker is that many of the things they worked on too improve were either. A. Not necessary B. A waste of time C. Not all that important Why waste time developing a rudimentary track editor when the selection of tracks is still one of the places GT still outshines Forza. Sure the premium cars are gorgeous but can you honestly say that they are such a step up from Forza that they were worth the time to make them. Especially when they brings out the glaring inconsistencies of all the standard cars. Yes the tracks changing over time is a nice touch but it should be a finishing touch you add if you have time to implement it. Not a main goal to focus on. The game is just unfocused pure and simple. After all the time they've taken I was expecting a Gran Turismo that took the best of the series and improved it, Then took everything that Forza raised the bar on and implemented/improved that, Then finally add in some new stuff to raise the bar on Forza again. Perhaps I was asking too much of them but I don't think I was alone in asking for it.
