... and it started off so well! :banghead:

I was sacked at 5.59pm for Gross Misconduct due to apparant Abuse of the companies internet. i used it for no more then around 2 1/2 - 5 minutes today at most....

it is the outcomne of a recent (and some not so recent action)w here by the companies financial situation is unstable and with me personally showing some initative regarding my Trabant Parts business and no longer rolling over whever they throw a managerial hissey fit, this is the result. Myself along with a cpuple of other were given written warnings about the situation and that they felt our performance was decreasing due to our other interests and that they would be monitoring us closely.

As such they felt that i had now abused this priviledge and that i would be used as an example to other employess along with being a scapegoat for the decreasing income the company is suffering..

irrelevant of the fact that i alone brought in over 1/4 of this years sales since 1st April.........

bit miffed but need to pick myself up and get on with things..

after all i have a wife and 2 kids to feed...

    Got fired?Good.

If you want to make real money, start your own job.

Working hard for yourself is actually rewarding

See ot as a turning point in your life rather than just another let-down followed by finding yet another unsatisfactory job.

It's not quite that simple though, is it?

    Good luck Festerfly.

Sorry to hear that mate, I hope you land on your feet. If all else fails get into the console repair business as it sounds like you have a few spare consoles laying about!

Now thats bad, what company where you working at? could you at least tell us what type of job it was?

Honestly I think that if you can prove what you were saying (sales numbers, actual internet usage) you could then accuse the company to some goverment organization or at least sue them.

Hey man, I sympahtize - this past week I actually had to choose which of my two underlings were going to get the axe, not an easy choice at all. If it were up to me I'd keep both, but it's not up to me, so I choose the guy who does less work, which really really sucks becasue our little department is pretty tight with each other.

Sad thing is, it's all about money - you could be the greatest employee in the world, but the rich bastards at the top want to shave off a few more dollars your paycheck is the first thing to go. Case in point, this last spring a demo my department put together got a 3 million dollar account for my company (which I got to make the graphics for.) The Research team attached to this gets a $10,000 bonus and goes to Las Vegas, but since me and my group are all "contractors" we get jack squat, even though we actually create the product.

I really shouldn't be complaining about this at all, at this time a few years ago I was mopping floors and making triple iced venti three equal caramel macchiatos for overbloated yuppie dirtbags with thier rat-sized accessory dogs and little maggot children all day, getting paid a measely twelve bucks an hour to scrub disease ridden floor drains and prostitute myself, repeatedly screaming "Hello, may I take your order? Hello, may I take your order? Hello, just shoot me please...." yet somehow, I feel like I had more self respect in those days...

But, whatcha gonna do - it's a sick game, but it's the only game the man left us to play.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, but you might as well focus on the positive which is that you're finally free from the crap company you used to work for. Maybe in 6 months you'll be with a new company looking back at how shitty your old job was compared to your new one.

Gotta stay positive...you have an amazing opportunity now to get something better.

If they are that bad, start your own company and take their business.

Very tempting though it is, i dont have the financial resources to start accounts with thte likes of Fed-Mogul, Mr Gasket and the likes to act as a distributor.

Cheers for all the kind words peeps. By no means was i saying i was without fault, but the way it was handled was appalling...

Who knows whats around the corner though, i have left once, attempted to leave a second time from this company and must admit that i feel kind of released even if it was not on my terms if you understand me?

Oh well onwards and up wards!

Don't you have any restrictive covenants in your previous employment contract barring you from working in similar jobs in close proximity?

    Lee,

Really sorry to hear about losing your job mate, it does suck bigtime, but now maybe the ideal opportunity to start your own business full time,

Firstly, get your arse down the Job Centre and start claiming benefits, if your renting your house you should be entitled to full housing and council tax benefit, on top of job seekers allowance.

Also ask them about self employment test trading in the job centre, you get tonnes of help to start up your own business, and can trade for 6 months as self employed as well as retain all your benefits, plus get free accountancy advise etc.

Also get in touch with the Princes trust and your local business link, you can get financial help and loads of business advise on starting up on your own, depending on your area there are also grants etc you may be able to get to help with startup costs, market research etc.

As you know ive recently took the plunge as becoming self employed, whilst it is scary to begin with, the rewards are much greater, no boss, work your own hours (just make sure you do actually work!) plus you get to spend more time with your family, which trust me when i say this far out weighs a fulltime job, as you get to see your kids develop and grow

Anyways, stay positive, dont stress, and keep your chin up! and if you want someone to chat to give me a call or stop by on msn

Uncle Fester, that is a really BS reason for sacking you! I think these little "Sign here, oh it doesn't really mean anything (until much later when we want to sack you)" clauses are a pain in the ass! You know the manager sits in his office with a Mars bar, copy of the Sun on his desk and is Googling "tits, ass & nipples" on his works PC all day long lol

Feck 'em! Go out there and either start your own, or take a wander around town and offer your services to someone else. This close to Christmas, everyone is needing an extra pair of hands! Do however get registered for benefits, just in case!

You got sacked today, I just started back! One door closes & another opens!

I'm so sorry to hear mate.. :( Like all other people say here: Try to start you own company, take their buisness and see your old company going down. If you really did 1/4 of all sales it shouldn't be much of a problem!!
