Steve as already said they are not going to lock down Mac OS, like they did with the iPhone. It would piss off a lot of developers if they have to sell on the App Store.

One thing that I don't like about 10.7 is there is no Rosetta. So if you use a lot of PPC programs you will need to stay with 10.5 or 10.6.

10.6 didn't come with Rosetta, either, though.

I gave up on Lion today.

    Work great for general use.

Xcode however crashes constantly. Lost an hours worth of code due to a crash.

I'll buy it as soon as it's out. It sucks that Apple keeps dropping more and more features to "push the industry forward". Rosetta is just one many. I just hope Mac OS 10.8 will feature support for touch screen monitors. I mean really, Lion has many pointless iOS features brought over but yet no touch screen support. Launchpad but no touch screen support!

Launchpad isnt all that different from the current application stack folder thing anyway. I wont/dont use either though. Its not mandatory or anything.

It's not necessary...I've been using Lion since it first appeared and it's almost like using the force, the trackpad handles pretty much everything, swiping between applications, web pages (I don't think I could handle a browser which doesn't allow gestures to go back a page). Its as good as if not better than touch screen.

Yeah, it's pointless. I got my app-folder in the dock, looks even better than Launchpad.
I'm glad they allowed to remove Launchpad from the dock in the second Build.

Posting to show my support of OS X devolpment in general. Its unbelievable to me that the iphone IOS is so behind development wise to other phone OSes now (lets not even mention Flash) yet OS X remains the best desktop OS. As an old school apple fan I really wonder what they are thinking in that regard. Very happy they are keeping the desktop OS "open". Can you imagine if they started closing out features like accessing the file system etc?

They are supposedly doing a macbook refresh soon also, so much for the "Post PC" era lol.

How do you think iOS is behind? I'd like to hear (honest Q as I dont have a smart phone). I can imagine Apple locking down as much as they can, to make the user experience "tight".

IOS hasn't had any significant changes after 2007 when it was first launched. The biggest was multitasking capability (running two programs at once) and the ability to create folders that you can place your apps in. I wouldn't call cut/paste significant since its such a basic feature that should have been there day 1.

The biggest thing missing from IOS is notifications. If your in the web browser, and you get an email, there is no way to tell other then closing the application and going back to the home screen to see that an email even came in. Whats worse is that in order to read the email you then have to click on the mail app. In Android, for instance, not only do you get a mail notification at the top of the screen without having to leave your current app, but there are mail widgets (just like OS X widgets) that let you glance at what the email is without having to go into the program itself

I think the worst thing about IOS is the firmware updates. Apple pushes out many firmware updates for IOS but they are always optimized for the current most up to date phones. If you have even a last gen phone from a year before, the firmware updates will either cause the phone to run hot, cause slowdown/crashing, or cause instant battery drain. Apple probably does this on purpose to make you want to update to the latest and greatest. For confirmation on this, just go to any of the apple discussion boards for iphone 3gs etc on their official site.

Rosetta did come with 10.6. It just wasn't installed by default, you either had to manually install Rosetta like Quicktime 7. It was in the optional installs.

Or you could have downloaded it. It would ask you if you want to install Rosetta to run the PPC app. But it was there on your 10.6 install CD.
