I found these old magazines I obtained a decade ago in my basement, which also contained prototype pictures of well known games:

Early pics of Donkey Kong Country 2 & Super Mario World 2.

Here's early pics of well known N64 games, Super Mario 64 being one of them:

Notice the difference between this early DKC 2 title screen and the regular title screen:

some nice finds, its suprisingly tough to find beta 64 stuff, and whats shocking is that alot of 64 games looked alot different then there final, mario 64 and zelda are great examples of it, in fact star fox was quite differnet in its early development as well as mission impossible.

I've always loved the humour in the title of "Diddy's Kong Quest", because that's what Dixie Kong is. Geddit?

I found the box about 2D Mario Games on the N64 to be interesting. I assume the game Myamoto was talking about became Yoshi's Story?

Hey thanks for those scans dude, they are great. I'm especially interested in the Super Mario 64 stuff as it's been an ongoing quest of mine to obtain images and video footage of the early builds of the game that were shown at Shoshinkai '95 (which later became Spaceworld).

So i might as well appeal to you all now, i'm seeking scans from magazines all over the world from late 1995/early 1996 showing images of the early versions that were shown at the show. I would really like to see some stuff from Japanese gaming mags such as Famitsu if people have access to it.

Here is a site with a heap of beta SM64 pics some of which i have contributed

Thanks for the scans! I remember there was some discussion of the graphics style in SMW2 was completely changed during development, I wonder if any older screenshots exist with the original look.

I found another magazine that had previews of Conker 64 & Banjo-Kazooie. I have a lot more of those... I think... even a prototype Virtual Boy pic in one of them!

    I'll add more pics ASAP.

did anyone ever have any isssues of that old uk 64 magazine, i use to buy it back in the day and they had a huge prewview on mission impossible and it was before they switched devlopment teams as well as th game being quiet different. Does anyone have scans of that? as for a little video of mario 64 beta, your in luck, i forgot to post this site that was posted on sonic cult, though you do have to download a special player on the site to view these clips since they were taken from streams or something like that http://dhost.info/crazystuff/z64station/html/supermario64/supermario64.html

I saw that too at SC. Oh, there was this site Called Zelda Secert Occarina that had this whole section for Zelda 64 beta screens. I found the site on here:http://web.archive.org/web/20031219103159/zso.krahs-emag.com/beta/screenshots.html

Does anyone remember pictures of a 3D Yoshi's Story in a Gamepro? There was a big section on the 64DD and they had shots of "Yoshi's Island 64."

It was similar to this scene
    <img src="http://dhost.info/crazystuff/z64station/images/yoshi/yoshi3_.jpg">
    but with Mario 64-esque graphics.

I can't have been the only person to have seen it before.

I don't have pictures but I do have the rom to the gba demo. It was a simple tech demo to show doing a game on the gba (of course it's not a complete game, more just using the sprites, background & music all together vs seperate tech demo's for each part). It's included with all versions of the official gba sdk.

I can't give out the rom (due to signed nda with nintendo) but you can always just google it and probably find it.

yea i managed to find it,....havent played much of the n64 version, but it does look somewhat nice, considering that it was it was done in 2000, though i must say latter generation titles have eclipsed it

Those are some very interesting scans. it reminds me of a pamphlet I wish I still had, it was from Sears electronic department in the mid 90's advertising Mario Kart. It was still called Mario kart R, and it had blue bananas in the screen shot. If this was a printing error I'm not sure, but I have never seen the screen shot again.

I have some old UK 'Nintendo Magazine System' issues which had a few N64 features, including an SGI one.
I recall a picture of a dolphin swimming, and mario characters walking around what looked to be a modern street scene.

The Dolphin was an N64 Tech Demo used for the U64 board from SGI IIRC. Mario on a modern street? I've never seen/heard that.
