Full story below, basically the bbfc have refused to certify the game meaning it will illegal to sell in the uk

    http://www.mcvuk.com/news/27545/BBFC-rejects-Manhunt-2

whats everybody think of this?, this is only the 2nd game in UK history to be denied a rating (1st was carmageddon which was later released)

Yeah cuz hooligans kick the shit out of each other cuz of violent games...

I agree with barc0de, government should protect people, not tell them what to see or hear....

also, their argument about indecency compared to broadcasts is a moot point.

A TV broadcast u cant avoid. A videogame you can choose to purchase or not. That's why there's a fucking rating on it in the first place! so people can DECIDE for themselves.

Dont you just hate how everything in the world is becoming more "family oriented" and personal freedoms and opinions are taken down one by one? =)

Hell yeah, but the fact is that all those dumb housewives and old folks have nothing better to do that to write letters to the FCC everytime something "indecent" goes on tv...

I say we do the same, and start writing all kind of protest letters to the FCC and even sue the bastards using the first amendment.

What a load of bollocks. The people who moan about violence in games generally don't even play them. I know it's a touchy subject but if you don't like it don't buy it. When i played through Manhunt i thoruoghly enjoyed killing people in a brutal style (especially the plastic bag), that doesn't mean i'm gonna turn into a serial killer all of a sudden. This country's gone to shit in the last few years:dammit:.

i agree with what everyone has said to a point, censorship is bad and an adult should have the choice of what to watch / play etc. but then i have to look at it as a parent, since buying online has become so popular, it is difficult to regulate who to sell to, and as any 11yr old can sign up for ebay and buy 18 rated games with ease, i do think there needs to be more restricions on purchasing games

but on saying all that, im still pissd about manhunt, was looking forward to mindless violence and killing, just hope the U.S. version will work on pal

It is ok, to watch a violent football match, where a person is punched in the gut on TV, but it is illegal to play a violent game ? What a bloody bollocks joke. Fuck, we are NOT in the Victorian era anymore, but it looks like some people just fucking get it. Heck does any remember the "non" chaku in Soul Blade on PSX ? that was because of some law...Damn, censorship is fuckedup beyond all recognition gradually.

I thought there were discussions taking place not long ago to relax game ratings in the UK? I remember reading it'd been decided they should be treated differently to films since you have more control over the content you see?

I think it's terrible that this can happen, I personally have no intention of playing Manhunt II, but I should be allowed the choice at least.

Is there a website where people can register their dissent? (not the BBFC site tho)

b.t.w According to the BBFC site they are not a government body.

Since I have not tried it out yet, I have no idea if it deserves a AO rating, but I will say the ESRB is starting to get balls. I remember playing the first manhunt and thinking it should have deserved the same thing (Manhunt will remain one of the few games I will not play due to violence. It was....too much).

Manhunt too violent? I remember the graphics were so grainy I could only see something red which I think was blood:lol:

Quake4, now THATS violent: the factory/dumpster level was so scary and disgusting at the same time that I almost puke and shit myself at the same time:nod:

The reason why manhunt looks more violent is due to the extremely gruesome ways you use to kill you enemies, but graphic-wise is not more violent than GTA....

    Pray is fucking disturbing.

That sequence where people are elaborately disembowled in front of your eyes creeps me the fuck out. I can't play the game becuase of it.

I don't think the ESRB has ACTUAL gamers rating the games either No fucking way should DOA 4 be rated M

The ESRB really pisses me off sometimes. Yeah I'm 25 I can buy any game I want I've only been carded once buying a game (the woman was an idiot too) but still......this needs to change.

Yeah it was kinda spooky but you only saw them getting impaled and then the big thing closes and when it opens theres nothing there...

The quake4 dump area was just too gory, with the human parts everywhere and the semi-decomposed zombie like puking green shit all over you.

I tell ya, there was a part I just couldnt keep playing, it was too fucking ugly.

I'll put my hat in ring, and say "don't decide on my behalf what I can and can't buy". I'm in Australia, and our country's ratings board (OFLC) will probably decide like the British Censorship Board has and deny Manhunt 2 a rating as well. Or if it's granted a rating, it'd either be R18+ (highest available, and still allowed to be sold from a retailer), or sent back to Rockstar to rerelease it with the violence "toned down", and then given MA15+ ...

I imported Manhunt on XBox from an ebay seller in the UK, because I wanted to see what it was all about, and to save a few $$ on local Aussie ebay auctions. I tend to agree with earlier posts, it's a very gritty and bleak sort of violent videogame, and definitely not meant for teenagers...

I didn't find the first Manhunt game to be offensive, just boring.
