The backlash against this game is why we can't have nice things.

Why are people attacking it? It hasn't even come out yet. I'm actually excited for this since I've only played MM2 on the 3DS VC.

    Lets see

"it's a cash in offers nothing new"
"It has less games than the anniversary collection"
    "it's not Legends 3 we don't care"
" We have mighty no 9 now"
" If Inafune has nothing to do with it I don't care"

    And now to debunk

-The challenge mode basically does to Mega Man what NES Remix did.
-Inafune had nothing to do with Mega Man X5 other than "end the series" of course they didn't listen because X6 happened but still.
-We might have Mighty no 9 but new ways to play Mega man is great.
-Inafune only drew Mega man he wasn't the true creator.

Aren't some of these games already on the Virtual Console?

Shit, I might get this if the price is right. Two reasons:
    1. This is like the only Capcom-made Mega Man game coming out in years, assuming they don't cancel this one too; I'd want to tell Capcom "I want more Mega Man"
    2. These are six great games (er, five great games and one "meh" game), and I already know they're great; I'd rather get this than the spectacular disaster that Mighty Number 9's shaping up to be

This is the second time today I've heard Mighty no 9 is shaping up to be a disaster. What gives?

and what's the MEH game? the First Mega Man?

Inafune has shown that he cannot allocate money worth shit (e.g. planning to fund a cartoon series before the game is released), resulting in cut corners and content (e.g. they scrapped the concept of being able to steal abilities from regular enemies). And that's not even getting into PR disasters involving the forum community and its members either.

As for the "meh" game, I'd say 6.

1-6 are indeed on the 3DS and WiiU Virtual Console already. Making the 3DS version ridiculous.

I think that would be your reason, MBJ. I understand wanting physical copies, but their emphasis wouldn't be giving a console that has the games already a physical release over giving a console that doesn't have anything. Also how much does Nintendo make from VC releases? Wouldn't releasing the disc version pretty much undercut themselves?

I admit I'm kind of worried about Mighty No. 9 too, but I do feel we have to see the end product before we can judge. All the things M. Bison mentioned are cause for concern, but I'm not convinced it's leading to a disaster.

I admit I'd be heartbroken if Keiji Inafune's first independent game didn't at least meet the most reasonable expectations.

Still, if things don't work out, they don't work out. We acknowledge these risks when we back these projects. Broken Age is a prime example, earning 8 times its funding goal and still having monetary problems.

People are hating it? Sure it is a bit of a cash grab, but considering how Capcom as of late has been re-releasing the good parts of their catalogue shows they are actually starting to kinda give a crap about their user base.

A lot to comment on but I'll just addres the so called problems.

I'll ignore the forum, it's not a real forum unless you have an idiot mod running it (so this isn't a real forum?) and as far as cut content, lots of concepts get cut during production for various reasons.

Maybe. If they in fact are ported from source to the 3DS, utterly different under the hood.

Still I admit that's wishful thinking at best.

Oh and Forgot to say anything about Mega Man 6. Which I think is one of the best MM games ever. It ranks pretty high on my list which goes from favorite to least favorite,

    3,5,6,8,2,10,9,4,7,1,and Bass

    X series goes x1,x4,x5,x3,x2,x7,x8,x6

Want - new Mega Man X with SNES style graphics / sound.

Don't want - Compilations of the same games every decade.

Don't take that as me condemning this game as pointless, it just is for me. I am glad that some people will get to experience Mega Man for the first time off of this, I'd just prefer new content that could do the same thing.

I do think it's kind of ridiculous that Capcom is presenting this as a new thing when in reality, putting these games on a disc or on PSN/XBL should have been a day 1 kinda thing.

Yeah... considering that I have all of the NES Mega Man games on my 3DS already...

Yeah, this is kind of a waste.

It's always interesting to see how different everyone's Mega Man line-ups are. Plus, it's nice to see another fan of Mega Man 3. I feel like the Mega Man 2 people tend to be the loudest, but I thought 3's difficulty and length were excellent. People also tend to denounce the soundtracks after 3, but I think 5's is actually pretty awesome.

By the way, speaking of the X games, does anyone else have huge difficulties with Mega Man X3's final boss? Even with the identifiable fireball pattern, the damage is heavy, and the hit detection is actually a bit above the head in the second phase. To me, it's bloody awful and a massive difficulty spike compared to the rest of the game. All opinions welcome.

3 was the first one I beat, so that's why it's on the list.

The audio was never "originally recorded in mono". The audio was generated by the NES APU/PSG which does not support stereo effects.

My view on this new collection is that it's certainly not a "bad" thing. One thing to remember is a lot of game players, when a new system comes out, will sell off their older system and games. So even though there are plenty of perfectly good and perhaps better ways to play these games there are people that this makes sense for. It makes sense for younger players too.

I have all the games already through various systems. Some NES carts, some PS1 discs, and the PS2 collection. If I took my 3DS with me it would be tempting to have the original series portable with me.
