So far its just been as I expected the game I've been waiting for a long time. Hideo has out done himself again with this final episode to the long running series. I recommend it to anyone because this is really the game of the year to me and has restored my gaming spirit which had gone down over the past couple of years. MGS 4 for the win
Its already been spoiled for me. I really want to play it, but I just can't afford it. The spoilers made me want it more, too! I have heard others say that over 1/3 of the game is cutscenes though.
I got it this afternoon. And it is f'ing amazing! I am astonished. It is probably the best looking game so far on next gen.
I bought a system for it so I'm waiting for the damn controller to charge. Why the hell would Sony make the charging cord so short?
I always plug mine into the laptop sitting next to me to charge when necessary (same with the X360 controller). If you have a powered USB hub, you can use that too. No need to wait  I have to say that I am a little disappointed in the gameplay so far, as it really does not feel like a Metal Gear game. It feels more like a CoD or R6 game right now. The controls are good at least, except for when you are trying to take cover.
I'll probably pick it up when I am back in Japan, but no great rush for it, not like Gran Turismo 5 where I will be camping outside a shop waiting for it to open.
Just picked up a PS3 last week and MGS4 is my first real intro into the series. Am loving it thus far!
Got my 40gb gunmetal limited edition console/game package being shipped from Konami as we speak.....and its gonna stay boxed and unopened ;-)
Excellent game, not GOTY material as it's more of a half MGS and half R6V. I laugh at the stupid soldiers though, they are surrounded by dozens of rebels and then ! OMG there's someone in slightly different clothes, lets consider his a real emergency and send out more troops! Then there's things like sniping from half a mile away, you down 10 soldiers in a big bloody heap then after 90 seconds "Everythings OK" and they just carry on their patrols past the pile of rotting flesh. I am somewhat disappointed that this sort of thing still happens, yeah it's pretty but come on, spend some of that horsepower on some better AI!
well, i just spent a couple hours playing at a friends house. the gameplay is very mediocre imho. it's nothing like the other games. i just ran through the levels in fps mode just like any other shooter. what's his name should have just made this a movie rather than making us play an OK game for 5 minutes, then watch a nice cutscene for 20. just my opinion though...
Having now played it for a few hours I have to say I'm really liking what I see. I still haven't quite gotten used to the controls (still not used to the new button configuration) and the new wall hugging is throwing me off. That's stuff you adapt to though. Probably the one thing that has really been bugging me is the radar. Maybe I just haven't figured it out but so far it has been worthless and the having it orange makes it hard to see anything.
