Finished the first act yesterday. This is by far the best game I've played for a next gen system. Don't think I'll be going back GTA4, I'm done with it. It's also one heck of looker too !!!

I finished after 16 hours of gameplay and the ending is epic, the story is amazing and the graphics are outstanding. 10/10

I pre-ordered the LE version but the bastard didn't have enough copies for everyone who pre-ordered. Was going to pre-order from some other company but picked them instead and they didn't say a word about me not getting a copy until I mailed them today.

Damn, I'm still not sure if buying a ps3 for this game alone is worth US$804. I'm a really big fan of the MGS series, but right now the 360 has the best game lineup imo.

A little bit off-topic but does anyone has read the MGS novel??? I got it yesterday and I finished it like 20 min ago, it is a good book, I reccomend it to all MGS fans.

Well thats what i bought a ps3 for, not played anyother games apart from resistance that i had with it, must say waiting this long for MGS 4 was worth it, dont know if its time to sell my ps3 or not, my 360 gets alot more love from me that the ps3.

MGS 4 + 360 = priceless, sadly not to be, but the ps3 came a close second

i got a day before it came out in a local super market
been enjoying it a lot. the first act really feels like some fps game, which i didnt like at all. act 2 makes up for it, and act 3 is just pure sneaking action!

it surely is very different from any previous mgs, but its still a great game so far.

oh yes and it also seems like all the girls are braless

Picked it up yesterday (Limited edition, still need to watch the blu-ray disc), and finished it at 5:00 this morning. Excellent game, although I had the game spoiled for me, which ruined a lot of the cutscenes for me. The game feels a bit short, though. First two chapters were pretty long, while the last 3 were very short (At least Chapter 4 brought back a lot of memories, even if you didn't get to explore the whole base).

Blu-ray docs are pretty good. There really aren't any spoilers if you've played through the first act. You may see some things but it's all in Japanese and honestly, you know how this is going to play out by then.

Now getting a friend's list for online ??? WTF

Not only does the person have to be online and in a MGSO server before you can add them as a friend, forget the search feature as it'll error out if they don't meet the above. $%#$% Konami WTF !!!!

I didn't buy this for MP but still it shouldn't be this damn hard to connect with your firends who have it.

Just finished it this second, awesome game, the later boss battles spoiled it somewhat, but still excellent. Incidentally, the "90 minute cutscene" is the last bit so when you get to the obviously final boss, make sure you have a drink/smokes/toilet break first.

I can't get over the cut scenes. They are incredible to look at, yet are being done real time.

It was either PS3 or new PC....I didn't pick PS3. Guess I'll have to wait till they rerelease it like they did the others.

Yeah, if the framerate was just a little higher, I would buy that quality on DVD (as in films to watch). It's still not quite Final Fantasy The Spirits Within but it's pretty damn close.

Got both the regular and limited edition (le is still sealed, but considering opening it to watch the extras. Beautiful game, and playing it without a strategy guide, but...

Got to Act 4 in the Rex hangar scene, damned suicide gekko detonated and now I have to start at the beginning of the damned act again because I exited instead of continuing (wtf?) so I could get some sleep in, so now I have to trek all the way through that again.

Funny, I had completely forgotten about MGS4's launch, even when I started playing MGS2 2 days ago (for the 4th or 5th time).

Well the problem is that if it was more like IRL the soldiers would take cover at the first shot and may stay put for hours trying to spot you or find an exit.

While more realistic and quite a breakthrough in AI, thats a pretty boring idea for a game.

Shhh! I'm gonna rob his ass!:rambo::lol:

Anyway, I agree with Sojiroh, buying a PS3 just for MGS4 doesnt makes much sense to me...

    I'm buying it:nod:

Don't forget there's a hidden camera as well that you can take "interesting" photo's of some of the characters.

    I didn't

I got MGS2 and 3:Subsistence instead though, as well as Shadow of the Colossus and Uncharted for my Ps3 =)

All these games added up cost me less to buy than a brand new copy of MGS4, so it will have to wait until it hits platinum, used, or bargain-bin status.

    This game is a riot

The dialog is flat out terrible. The story is the same old awful, contrived conspiracy theory bullshit that MGS always is. The intro is flat out hysterical. And the best part is how incredibly serious the game takes itself throughout. Its like the whole time Kojima was creating this that he thought the most ridiculous, cliched scenes would be the amazing. In many ways it reminds me of an Ed Wood film, just with top notch production.

The number and length of cut-scenes is ridiculous. Just when you start to get in a good flow with gameplay there is a short 10-sec cutscene to show you whats going on right in front of you. Really, there is no excuse for this ass backwards way of storytelling.

Gameplay is a little iffy. You have plenty of hold overs from last generation, but at the same time there are some truly clever additions. Controls are improved but still not perfect - there are plenty of times when you do the wrong thing by accident because the system is so finicky.

Its fun if you don't take things seriously, but its sure as hell no 10/10
