FURTHER UPDATE: Here's a picture of the disc, sorry it took so long to those who wanted to see it: http://imgur.com/KswLWBv UPDATE: DROPBOX LINK: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cn47qky6fj57loj/MGS2 Beta.rar Let me know if there's any differences to the retail. I also may have a Sniper Elite Online PS2 beta incoming that I know FOR SURE is incomplete. Hey guys, I've been a lurker for years here on the forums, and it was only recently that I was able to sign up for an account here due to me previously having a really strange bug during the registration process. I have a bunch of dev stuff that I've collected over the years, and now I'm just going to systematically go through it all (not just in this thread, in each system's respective board) starting with the Metal Gear Solid 2 beta disc I recently picked up for the Xbox. I have no idea whether it's complete or not, but I put it into my debug kit and it seems to look like the retail game at a first glance. As I write this, I'm currently copying the files through neighbourhood onto my pc, and I'll upload them later tonight. I'll also attach pictures later, it's just in the debug right now. I hope this dump works, I don't exactly know much about dumping xbox games through neighbourhood, but here's a screenshot of the files on the disc. Catch you guys later.
First off welcome to the forums! If you have files on disc, you just create an ISO. (better to do so, if that's how you got them) Looking forward to see what else you have, anything Wreckless be sure to alert me about it
Thanks for the welcome! How exactly do I make an ISO from an Xbox disc? I tried using Qwix, but it just made an ISO of that video telling you that the disc needs to be played in an Xbox, and it was only 12mb or something.
You're best to keep using Neighbourhood to copy the files over, and zip them up. ISO isn't required really.
Ohhh, I thought you meant I could just create an ISO image directly from the disc. I just finished copying the files from the disc in my debug kit, so how exactly would I go about turning them into an ISO?
Since you've finished copying the files, don't worry about making an ISO. If you really want to, you can use QWIX or Craxtion 3. I recommend to keep them as loose files and upload them in a ZIP.
I'm uploading to mediafire now, it's gonna take quite a while on my horrible internet. I don't exactly want to leave my desktop running all night plugged into my power transformer, so I guess i'll do it from my laptop.
I normally say not to make ISOs of prototypes for the Xbox. If it is a burnt disk, it was likely just drag and dropped onto a disk, since the debug kit doesnt need any fancy formats. Even if you're using QWIX or similar, that isn't the proper way of making an Xbox iso either from original disks, as you're recreating the disk. Creating an ISO is just one more step that leads to one more potential error (some autopatch the XBE for instance, although that may only be extracting the ISO...)
Short Update: I had a BUNCH of issues yesterday to do with power, internet, etc, so I'm leaving my laptop running overnight to upload. Hopefully it finishes by morning, I leave for the snow tomorrow!
FINALLY! Hope this works, here's the dropbox link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cn47qky6fj57loj/MGS2 Beta.rar
Do you have an MD5 or SHA hash of the .rar file to confirm downloads were completed properly? Edit: MD5(MGS2 Beta.rar)= e514c291128d38c292badcace828c46e SHA(MGS2 Beta.rar)= 6ad7e9745f3f39d57434e70b9513ef215e448180
Indeed dropbox doesn't seem to have worked. "This account's public links are generating too much traffic and have been temporarily disabled"
I must have been one of the lucky ones, download went fine for me. Although admittedly I have no means of using it at the moment...
