I'm guessing one's an old 360 PS and the other isn't. My friends and I all have different ones it seems. The grounded one is older, I think. My old Premium didn't have it. Yakumo, whatever 360 you get should be fine. It's not like the Elite's are made to break less or anything. They are nicer though, but whatever would be fine. I guess you could just try to get a Falcon. If it dies, it sucks, but theres always warranties.
Thats nice have warranty, but when you live in Czech and you Xbox go for fix to US and back and you are waiting 3 month to get it back and then play for a month and 3 to get fix. That sucks I would say h:
Earth isn't needed, much like many old consoles that had a plastic earth pin. If some of the earlier models had an earth pin present, who's to say it was connected? It certainly didn't need to be! Yakumo, there's still a 3 year warranty against the ring of death, which is a pretty decent warranty. The newer chipset Elites are meant to be less prone to the crashing, yes.. but you can't guarantee you'll have that chipset, at least not yet. To be honest, whilst I've seen lots that needed returning, mine is OK and a lot of my friends' machines have been OK - I think you just need to be sensible and ventilate it well. And yes, we all use our machines a LOT!
That does suck. I didn't think about that. =( I got the Falcon Elite set by checking out the sticker on the box.
Isn't any unit with a HDMI port a Falcon? I've got an Elite myself, it's well worth the purchase Yakumo, VF5, Sega Rally, Virtua Tennis 3, Gears of War, The Club. Rez HD alone make it worth it, it's ace. Sega Superstars Tennis is also coming along very nicely... Just make sure you get Live, you'll get the most out of your 360 then!
This is the exact same reason im holding off, i really don't want the hassle of having to replace it. Theres finally a nice list of stuff i want to play on it too. Although microsoft may actually be doing something to properly fix the situation. Yay http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/a89579/microsoft-unveils-plan-to-end-reliability-woes.html
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Elites overheat less because its got a better heat brick or whatever you call those things. Power Supply? Anyways, I haven't had any issues with mine (so far) and I've been playing it a LOT.
If that news in the link is indeed true then I'm well in for one. Loads of stuff I want such as VF5, Project Gothem 4 and of course Ghost Busters when that comes out. Yakumo
I know that all systems shipping in NA (and I assume Japan) are the new 65nm Falcon systems. They run a lot cooler and quieter, and should be more reliable. That link about Opus sounds like BS, all the Falcon models have 65nm CPUs anyway. Plus, you can't just add a new CPU to a mobo, as the power requirements are different. I say nows a god time to get one. All models should have the new mobo and the 3 year RRoD warrenty.
I've some friends in latin american countries that have the same problem, but they say they get no warranty whatsoever becos according to MS once you take it out of the country where you bought it your warranty voids. So basically, if you buy a X360 down there and it bricks you're SOL. Join the club:-(
Shadowlayer, which consoles do you currently play if you hate the wii, the PS3 and are holding off for a 360?
I dont hate the PS3, and the Wii is more about defending my damn rights as a consummer and not pay more for something that should by all means cost way less. I play everything between the Genesis and the Gamecube, and maybe you didnt "get the memo" but there are other users here that didnt get in the nextgen bandwagon either... After all, this is a classic gaming site, right?
I dunno, I thought I read you say you haven't played anything for awhile. Guess you mean't consoles. Oh yeah...those are sort of next gen games! :110:
Oh and what pray tell is so wrong with not playing modern games? There are actually quite a few of us that don't buy into this current gen bullshit. It's just not our cup of tea. Playing the games has no real bearing on a discussion about faulty hardware.
