    No.

The suggestions are that mostly, the Falcons are 175W. They may or may not be made by team FDOU (or non-falcons may be, too). They are lot number 738 or above, with a build date of 24 August 2007 of later.

Ben Heckendorm did a test of the new Falcon board during his new Xbox360 laptop build, and found the CPU to be much cooler than the Zephyr board (94 Fahrenheit instead of 150), however the GPU is still as hot as before. That what's likely causing the problem as the 3 red rings are commonly graphic hardware failure:

    http://benheck.com/01-30-2008/testing-a-new-65nm-xbox-360-in-a-laptop-configuration

The only solution, therefore, would be a smaller die on the GPU side of things.

That or better cooling, does anyone remembers how during E305 MS said the X360 used an enclosed watercooling like quad G5's did?

Guess they cut it due to costs, but it also explains all the overheating issues: poor cooling...

Ahhhh, that would explain all the issues and noise problems with the console! Thanks, Shadowlayer - that's the most informative 2 lines so far!

Yeah yeah, but all I hear these days is "the GPU is teh hotzz!!!1!one" like the only thing to do is hope for a 65nm for come and save MS ass...

See that huge heatsink w/fan most PC GPUs have? thats what the X360 needs.

    Is this outdated then?

I just thought it was always heat pipes.

Funny they discarded the big fan, since the PS3 uses one and seems to be OK...

Anyway, this is the liquid cooling system from the dual-core G5s:

And the X360 uses a tri-core one with an even hotter GPU right next to it, wonder why it overheats all the time?

i want mine to be cooled by Mt. Dew. mmmmmm...

they won't be called consoles either. they'll probably just be called E.P.E.N. (Everything People Ever Need) it took me a couple minutes to come up with that...

Jon, I freaking love you man.

No it's a "Rare and Obscure" gaming site. ;)

But I mostly play old games too. My NES and Famicom get the most love besides my 360. My wii replaced my 360 until I had to return No More Heroes to blockbuster. :'(

That reminds me of the Simpsons episode with the Gamestation 256 or whatever.

    "Slightly more powerful....TO THE MAX!"

I didn't think it was that accurate back then, but hell, that quote gets truer with each generation, imo.

No, I distinctly remember this being Simpsons, with Bart saying something like "Ugh...and all I have is this crappy Gamestation 226!" and then he throws it in the fireplace.

    EDIT:

Found the script: (I was pretty close, even though I saw this on TV ages ago.)

Announcer: "Krusty the Klown" is brought to you by the new Gamestation 256:
It's slightly faster ... to the max!
Bart: [watching on TV] 256? [groan] And I'm stuck with this useless 252?
[he drop-kicks the system into the fireplace, where it slowly
    melts]
252: Don't destroy me! I can still make you happy ... to the max!
