Neither do I. But your outburst back then really stuck with me because of how quickly and unexpectedly it escalated.
Exactly, it's not about cred or privilege or thanks. It's about keeping the forum clean and orderly and wanting to do just that.
Really, I just would like a calm and balanced moderator to emerge. For the sake of the community

Seeing as how our mysterious Admin said that there was a trial period, I guess I don't mind you becoming a mod. Considering what you have said so far about acknowledging former postings and potential moderator friendliness filter:)

..As opposed to some of the current, feisty, ones. I get it, they have stuff going on in their private lifes. But that's just it, that stuff obviously needs to be prioritised above forum moderating.

"repeatedly", even? Quite some accusation. In that case: [citation needed], or you could try the "I seem to remember != it definitely happened" escape.

Well in that case, I apologise.

Nothing I say during a discussion/argument should be taken badly enough to be remembered more than about 15 seconds after closing the browser.

I can assure you, I don't think you are dumb or stupid.

I'm going to try both the "emphasize SEEM ≠ definitely"-escape as well as the "posts can have been edited"-escape plus "I don't remember what specific thread it was"-escape. There you go :)

No need to. It wasn't personal like that. What it was is a characterising impression. As in, I was left with that particular impression of you as a person. You cleared it up with your previous post.

Alright, time to split this thread into the applications and a public discussion of said applications. And yes, you NEED public discussions, as this site is dying and the last thing it needs is more behind-the-scenes drama about staffing discussions.

I put my hat in the ring. Not sure if I'll be accepted but I thought I would at least offer. My behavior on here has always been pretty professional.

    Thanks for the endorsement americandad.

So I guess not all but some of the current staff is voluntarily stepping down to make way for a new admin team? That wasn't fully explained, but that's the impression I'm getting now. I'm curious how many openings are being considered.

I suspect the "have to log in every day" bit is a deal breaker for a lot of people. It certainly is for me - for example, a couple of weeks ago I spent 3 days at a factory doing failure analysis on some boards because of a sudden drop in the pass rate. I guess I was working 16 hours a day and hardly had time to have a shit, let alone log into a website.

It also seems to be missing the point - one of the primary reasons to have a large moderator pool is so you don't need any individual to be always available.

Moderating site-wide seems a large task. Dividing the load over multiple areas can alleviate this and may attract more capable and interested parties. Say you love Sony and despise Nintendo, or say you're always busy with modding any kind of hardware but see no purpose in collecting consoles, would you be interested in spending a lot of time outside your favorite sections? And would you do just as good a job as you would in the areas that coincide with your interests?

Probably shouldn't be a mod then, if you're stuck at that childish level. I don't mean *YOU* personally. English is a confusing language.

Pedantic if you ask me, you got my point. If you have interest and knowledge on subject A, but don't care for subject B, my suggestion is simply to allow them to apply for working on A only, instead of allocating half their efforts on B.

I see good people appliying for the "job" :)

I was also looking to apply, but I am not really sure if I can be on this forum as much as needed.
Being from Europa, it could have been great to be an admin while USA and Japanese admin are sleeping (or recovering from a hangover).

    Forum name: pstrick2

Reason for applying: I am extremely power hungry. Nothing makes me happier than enforcing arbitrary rules on strangers. I will judiciously check every single post that is made for even a hint of subversion. Any undesirables will be swiftly reprimanded. Second chances are for children. In a high-minded forum such as this, we need people who will crush those that dare attempt to make a joke. You can be sure I am one of those people.

Also, fuck large signatures. Like I really, really hate them.

Seriously, maybe kevin had a point. We're kind of a bunch of baby bitches about change.

This pretty much sums up how people have been reacting lately. Thanks for this trolling post, i guess.

To log in here and see people destroying discussions, calling each other "names" for no reason, then proceeding to PM themselves with "jokes" / death threats... Stupidity all around.
And then acting like babies when new rules are enforced, instead of acting like adults and try to reverse these changes with normal discussions and reason, instead go on rage mode, get banned for 30 days... and start registering under different aliases to keep acting like babies.

No wonder Kevin was tired of this. People are never happy.

Didn't really mean to troll. I was just trying to lighten the mood.
People are getting very upset and there's a splinter sect growing over at obscure games. When did everything become such a big deal? Every little thing is a hill to die on. It's exhausting.

I knew it was a joke, i even thanked you. Maybe i should've put a smile face.

Anyway, my reply wasn't aimed directly on you, but to the people that get angry on everything.

Please disregard my application. I have changed my mind and do not wish to apply any longer.

    Thanks.
