well i think i need to email the European Commission for some anti-competitive behaviour on behalf of Sony's greek arm - and their retailers in accord.
The screen must be LED backlight since if its was OLED sony would say it loud and clear. These new type of screens are pretty cool while LED backlight ones are more like a small improvement to get a little more life out of the old LCD. About the battery, well I think the "4 times longer" must be exagerated, but on the other side sony may have improved other components in addition to the screen, like a SOC using the R4000 and VME. I disagree: with PS1 games download being such an important part of sony's PSP strategy I think releasing a PSP with its own mass storage built in is a great idea since it lets people download games into the PSP right out of the box. Plus NAND memory prices are going down since the iPod Nano got released, so while is not exactly free I doubt it would be that expensive to sony...
Yeah he seems to be right about these new LED screens.. I've only just started reading up on them, but I'm impressed so far.
price on mem-sticks isnt as bad as it used to be. I got a 2GB (Pro DUO) Sandisk one for 35 Euros, tax included.
Damn sight harder to damage LED style screens too. I wonder if that is also part of Sony's thinking? LED uses less power = longer battery life, but I'd like to see their 4 times longer claim put to the test!
Dunno, the only way to know if sony is exagerating is if they exaggerated the original PSP specs back in 2005...
You mean prior to release? Like they did with the PS2? Anyone else here remember them stating that they were powerful enough to be used as global positioning devices for long range missiles or did I dream that particular piece of fanciful Sony nonsense up? They even stated you needed a special export license ffs! As far as I can remember the PSP was pretty much what Sony had stated it would be, besides it's not in comparison to what Sony suggested it might be back then, but how it compares to the current model. Has this actually been confirmed by Sony anyway?
The PSP wasn't nearly as hyped as othe Playstation branded systems. Only comment I can think up is Kutaragi saying that it was a beautiful work of art or something fancifully stupid like that.
as far as i know it was NOT stated by sony, but by the chinese government (that at first prohibited it to be imported!) and from that on it took the go...
What's the point? repackaging a great gadget with average games, will not sell more of it, DS is succeeding because of content, not size or look this is just a bonus. Please Sony spend money in a more intelligent manner, like pay Capcom to make the Resident Evil that the PSP deserve and not a pussy port of Power Stone... They really don't anything these days, actually they just opened a blog at Sony...that's really sad... SAbre
Wasnt saddam looking for PS2s? PM had a story back them, saying the iraqui secret service was sending agents to the ToysRus stores all over the country in order to secure enough units and they were al-gore-cereal about it:lol: Back with the PSP, well sony kinda exaggerated with the poly number since they said it could push as much as 33million, while thats actually flat-shaded ones, like the 500000 from Saturn... Dunno how much it does with all the bells and whistles, but I guess is 10 million or less. Even then is much better than the DS capabilities...
Honestly if the Slim PSP ends up being fixed then I'm getting the old one, which BTW will be in clearance by then for sure:nod:
Prepare to be crushed if you haven't: http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/news/news.phtml/8218/9242/Sony-denies-PSP-Slim-rumours.phtml Did anyone heard of this yet?
