re I basically like anything other than "hip-hop", R&B, pop, and gospel (<- I can't stand gospel, I'd rather listen to "lil John") The main bands I like are: Death HIM In Flames Orbital (<- not really even sure if it's a "band", but their Wipeout stuff is great) Opeth Prodigy There are many more, but those come right off the top of my head.
give me a top 100 and i will fill it up with artists / groups / bands and genres because i am very flexible when it comes to music and overclocked remies rules bigtime but i am VERY flexible although i am a fan of a band that has existed for over 20 years now and they are still going Strong. and if you have read my messages then you know what band i am talking about. but i like music that inspires me so it is not a typical genre i like. many of the bands you all had mentioned i like and have heard but gorillaz is not my cop of tea but i like alternative rock scene like Kent and other alternative rock bands.
Bowie Prince Jackson Peter Gabriel Robert Palmer Nirvana Blur Ultravox (got lucky on a collection) Kate Bush Recent: Graham Coxon Libertines Razorlight Charlotte Hatherley
The main kinds of music listen to are: -Rock -Metal -Electronica -Trance -Techno -Underground Hip-Hop(rap that has meaning and is more a DJ mix and cut style and is not about blinging and hos) -Punk Rock -Ska Basially I listen to anything but mainstream rap, pop, and country.
bollocks is so english that i should not know what it means ;-) but it is the same as BALLS watch the film 51. state and then i think you will hear the word many times and also shag but damn funny movie :smt043 :smt043 :smt042
Well, unlike everyone else here, I mainly listen to hip hop. Not keen on the commercial stuff, like artists such as Kool Keith (Ultra Magnetic MCs), Anti Pop Consortium (Awsome electronica/HipHop crossover), Boom Bip. Also like UK HipHop - Roots Manuva, Skitz, Rodney P, 100 Strong. Other than that I listen to a lot of Dub, Reggae & (proper) Ska music at the moment. Used to collect records before I collected video games & have a nice collection of Dark Drum & Bass, Electro/Techno HipoHop & Breaks. Also listen to funk, jazz & classical. :smt023 Basically, anything but rock, metal & the like :-D
she's just another smelly tool, check out some mars volta or 90 day men.... thats good stuff there, and of course dead guys like sublime and nirvana
Nice to see some loving for Sublime, Nirvana and Nine Inch Nails! My faves: Rage Against the Machine Nirvana Nine Inch Nails Sublime The Offspring Some other stuff I like: Incubus Modest Mouse Jet Red Hot Chili Peppers Stone Temple Pilots G Love If it's good, I also like it. Unfortunately, much of the stuff being played currently is crap, but there's always some gems. And I was listening to some tracks off of the "Grey Album" (DJ Dangermouse) today--damn that's crazy. Damn fine job, I must say. Pretty cool, and I'm no fan of rap/hip hop or of the beatles. :smt023
if you like rage you should check out at the drive in, i used to be a huge rage fan now i dont listen to them much at all but at the drive in is friggin great stuff. some consider it 'emo' but i just consider them retards. and if you like modest mouse you should definately check out bright eyes. even better just listen to bright eyes period they are very friggin good. but umm... yah the pixies too. i dunno i got roughly 200 something cds i could reccomend tons of stuff. stp is great also peace :smt023
Actually went to high school with the guys from Incubus (they were several grades above me.) I have a flyer somewhere from 1991 where they're playing the Roxy. Now they're all big and sheet. Pretty funny. Back then everyone thought they'd never make it.
That's pretty cool. I doubt they would've made it, except for the explosion of similar music during the early to mid nineties. Still, glad they did. Pretty decent. There's a pretty sweet local band 'round here that's been getting a lot of air play. They're called Silver Tide. I'd hafta say they sound kinda 80's, but I do like their single. Nirvana's Box Set comes this tuesday...along with U2's new album. Looks like it's gonna be expensive that day... :smt083
excited about nirvana, heard there's supposed to be unreleased stuff but its probably just stuff that wasn't officially released right? cant say im a big fan of u2 at all but to each their own
Meh, I don't like U2's new album, and I should know - it came out last week over here. I think they're new stuff sounds too much like several old songs stuck together - same went for their last album, too. I swear "Beautiful Day" had something from a-ha's "The Sun Always Shines On TV"! Also, even Bono admits himself that smoking has fucked his voice neyond redemption. Anyways, stuff what I like are: - Old U2 stuff (early 80's even moreso) - Michael Jackson (when he was still black, and not a kiddy-fiddler) - Mike Oldfield (well his stuff with proper guitars anyway. Incantations bores me) - Kraftwerk (before the 90's) - Air (their new album is also shit) - Daft Punk (I'm pretty sure they're the exact same two French guys as Air, though...) - The Pixies (they r0xx0r like a b0xx0r of s0xxors!) - The Prodigy (also, THEIR NEW ALBUM IS SHIT) - New Order - Joy Division (they're depression-tastic!) - Blur (but if they make a new album, it will probably be shit) - Supergrass - The Frames (yes, there are Irish bands who aren't U2!) - Not forgetting the generic stuff that you can't not like, like Queen and The Beatles. Also: - Proper anime soundtracks, i.e. the small orchestra + guitars stuff, like Shirou Sagisu (Evangelion, etc.) - Nobuo Uematsu (please kill me now) - Masato Nakamura (Sonic 2 = possibly best MD soundtrack EVAR) - Most Sega stuff, especially Out Run, but ESPECIALLY Sega Rally! - A lot of Konami stuff, especially their SCC stuff on the MSX - it sounds like no other console or computer around! As you may see, I am also under the impression that 98% of new music is shit.
It's a lot of random studio stuff--alternate, have you. Also a lot of early stuff, like 88 and stuff, judging from the song titles. I heard there was going to be a new single off of it. We'll see. :smt045 To boot, tomorrow comes out NiN Deluxe Edition Downard Spiral. Oh dear, it's going to be hella expensive... :smt083
Happy to see people propping the Pixies! Every band listed by everyone so far I enjoy, except for the 1999+ "punk" groups (e.g. New Found Glory)/you-must-be-retarded-to-listen-to-or-be-a-WWF-fan scream metal e.g. Slipknot. I love the classics such as Queen, Zep., 80s-90s alternative as well as a few unmentioned pplz like Weezer (well, until the Green album), Janes Addiciton and mc chris!
