well i was in 6th grade when the n64 hit the market, so it was an age that I read more publications than anything else. The internet wasn't around for me either, so i absorbed everything like a spunge!
I'm sure most of you know rare witch project, if you can live with the many MANY childish posts about STOP N SWOP, there is a lot of interesting information on the Banjo games, including project Dream.... There must be a few different of beta versions of Tooie somewhere, if you believe the rumors this game could have been on DD, a "lock on" catridge similar to S&K on the Genesis or a standard cart that reads the n64 memory card for Koozie saved games. And thats not even mentioning having the game "interact" with DK64!
Thats very true and to this day no one seems to know much else about it. There was a theory going around recently that after the 64DD didn't do as well as they thought they still worked to try and put STOP N SWOP in the cartridge version of tooie. It was meant to be done by changing the cart and putting the other cart in because with the N64 RAM it would save the parts it needed to change the eggs that would unlock the mini games.
stop n swop never involved the DD actually. It took advantage of a certain RDRAM property , but nintendo didn't allow progress into this subject due to electrical and electronic concerns.
freakboy has alot of videos online and screen shots. I remember I was waiting for this to come out. The robotech tech demo got dumped didn't it? I still have't played it or seen videos of the demo. How far along was the dumped one and was there a more complete version of it?
Sirs, I m not reffering to the robotech demo, yet I m making direct reference to the actual almost-finished game, completed that fatal weekend before they shut their doors on Monday with a notice. That piece of software is in some peoples' hands, and I d love to see it in mine too
I've always wanted to know more about Quest 2, I read about it like 10 years ago at a barnes and noble... Does anybody know anything about it? Everybody I've ever talked to about it hated it. Because it was "too hard" i'll admit I threw my cart once, but I did finish the game.
 I recall Gametek being shutted down from like one day to another because of financial troubles...If there's a complete game somewhere, well, it would be great to try to get it like we did with the Sonic Xtreme...
What is the easiest way to dump an N64 cart? Especially if you don't have a lot of experience with that sort of thing.
To ask someone else  No, joking. Its not that easy at all. You can get it done with the help of copiers like Doctor64 for example. Apart of that, who would be intrested in working more on that Robotech idea? Someone with contacts maybe?
connect a copier to your pc and type some commands in CLI. if you don't like CLI you can use programs like RTOOL.
well you can back up the long boards with a v64jr very easy. Problem is that the tools are old and the v64jr works with the Parallelport. with a z64 you can not backup them because that will result in a 32Mbit Rom full of zeros.
Find a doctor v64 (or someone who has one [like me ])... click a couple buttons in Rtool and you're set. Not hard at all if you have the right tools.
I have never been convienced that this was the idea from the beginning, the idea of having to swap carts inside several seconds over and over (I guess you need to swap tooie with kazooie find a couple of eggs &/or key back to tooie, play the mini game(s) and then back to kazzoie find more back to tooie... etc etc) seems a little crude and a last minute hack job. Surely at the time of Kazooie's development the upcoming DD would have seemed a much better solution for this? Even the "lock-on" cartridge sounds plausable. I always had the impression that the cart swap method was a last ditch effort by Rare to include SNS when the DD never took off, Ninty heard and quite rightly said NFW! Very interesting subject in any case i'd be very interested to see a beta version of Tooie turn up some time
excuse a stupid question ... why is it difficult to dump N64 carts ? do they have copy protection ? special bankswitching on cart ? anyone got a good link where I can read about it ? thanks !
