I'd imagine that requires a pretty expensive CP though?

Nice! That is a different style of cabinet. The coin mech, entry door and it looks like the side panels are different too.

So what has become of your Naomi motherboard?

Virtua Tennis was one of the best games on Dreamcast, so you can hardly go wrong with it on Naomi.

Don't forget once you remove a cart from the NAOMI the highscores will be reset! So if your a highscore junkie, watch out with swapping games.

Thanks for pointing that out. Luckily, I am not really all that bothered.

Parris, Can the Naomi hardware connect directly to a standard VGA TFT screen? I'm thinking of getting in to Naomi GDROM stuff since the games are pretty cheap to buy as far as arcade stuff from that time goes. Toy Fighter for 2000 yen complete with all paper work and marquees, anyone? Yeah, not such a great game but still worth it I'd say. Also how about controls? I was hoping to wire up a Dreamcast arcade stick to it after replacing the buttons to nice clicky Sawa ones. The actual stick is fine I think.

Yeah, I used a standard VGA until the cab turned up, however you will need a suitable I/O for the controls. The Capcom I/O is probably your best bet for a whole host of reasons, but mainly because they have built in audio amp as well. Neater and fewer cables hanging around the table top.

To do all of this of course you'll also need a Supergun and suitable controllers that will wire into the Supergun.

This is the cheapest way to put together the Naomi setup.

The only things missing from image is the controller, standard L/R RCA cables to the Capcom I/O. Ivariably I stick the audio into a set of Yamaha speakers I have with RCA inputs instead of going through the Capcom, primarily as it cuts the clutter.

I've had a look around at the current prices

    1) Naomi 1 motherboard = £50 approx, although I have seen them cheaper
    2) Capcom I/O = £70-100 approx. Prices vary, but I have seen silly prices. They are good to have though and also work with TriForce as exactly same connections!

If you should decide to use a GDrom based system rather than cart.
    3) Naomi GDrom = £70-100 approx
    4) Naomi DIMM = £50-80 approx

Just add the PSU, controller, screen & Supergun of your choice.

Games vary greatly, but a lot of titles seem to be around £30-50 mark on cart or GDrom. Expect to pay more for rarer OR better titles.

However, there are often deals on eBay (as usual) or by getting to know people on Killercab or Naomi.com - seen some excellent setups going for less.

Was recently offered a Naomi 1 with the GD-Rom extension and all that stuff for ~100 GBP
Unfortantly I'm trying to save up for a new TV.. been trying to do this for a few month now.. damn you eBay!
But I feelt that if I ever gonna get a new TV I have to start turn down that sort of tempting offers :crying:

Shame you didn't accept! That was a seriously good offer.

What TV are you going for? I have a BNIB spare Samsung LCD TV up in the attic. I bought it to use as a monitor for a PC I then ditched in favour of the iMac.

It cost me £300.00 at Christmas, but I think they have come down in price. Let me dig it it out when I get home. I cannot remember the screen size, but I think it is 21" widescreen rather than square. My daughter uses a similar one for her 360.

    somewhere in the 32-40" 1080p range :)

the only thing missing was a capcom IO board.
There's also a few guys selling Naomi cabs here too for ~422 GBP
But I'm more in the look for something like a Egret 2 or similar looking cab.
Though the only thing I really care for is that the monitor should be rotatable
so I can play both horizontal and vertical games.

The Astro Cabs and Naomi Universal cabs both have rotatable monitors, although it's no fun having to spin such a heavy item on its axis. I'm not familiar with the Egret tbh, although I know the one you mean. A friend of mine just took delivery of an Astro cab and I must admit it looked very nice indeed.

Also if you are looking for a good schmup for the Naomi then Gigawing2 is excellent!

Well it's not a Egret per se I'm after, just something in that style preferably with tri-sync monitor.

but for now I guess I have to settle with a supergun if I can find one or manage to build one.
