Not to hijack Parris' thread () but I finally started to work on my Naomi Universal. Finally got sound working correctly on my PC, so the MAME setup is almost done. Last thing to tackle: Controls. Which means modifying my CP until I can purchase a nice one plus buying an i-pac for it.
Will do once its completed and nice. Right now, its just kind of rigged into it. Sound is a bit buggy still (need to hit mute then unmute, damn flaky motherboard..served me well for years though). It's extremely easy with a high res monitor though, just set the PC to 640x480, plug in the VGA cable, plug in a headphone (2.55mm?) to RCA into the sound amp, and youre golden. Controls are a different story though, could use the crafty KC members hardware or an ipac (which is my plan, just rig up the wires using cheapo ethernet cable).
It really is that simple. iPac is simple as well, hook it into USB or PS/2 ports, configure, and simply run wires up to the controls. You have to disconnect the Naomi control wiring, but thats all easy to disconnect and reconnect anyway
Word of warning: If you go to all the trouble of buying all this: Do not go to the trouble of finding: Oh boy, that is some terrible game play! Thanks to Cezar for shipping a pile of discs to me, no qualms there, but this version of Gundam goes down as the worst title I think I have ever played. It's so bad I just had to keep trying to find why it was released! :banghead:
Are you sure you're playing it right? If that's the one that's on the Dreamcast like I think it is then it's probably the Best Gundam game on any system until that point. It's actually made by Capcom, not Banpresto. Yakumo
However you attempt to play it, it's awful. I've given it a really good attempt to find anything remotely redeeming. It's not only light in content, but the lack of camera shift, so things blow the crap out of you from behind before the angle shifts. Not cool! It's licensed from Banpresto. I think the previous poster was being ironic though. Could be wrong. Edit ** one of the units sold!
Thanks Cez ;-) Before I sold the Pool unit, I cleaned and refurbished it. Looked ok in the end. Just needed a new Pool cue and a plastic marquee holder to be minty fresh. Worth converting them to this to the non-Prize version.
Very nice Net City, someday hope to have one in my future home. :icon_bigg I love Virtua Tennis 1/2! I could play them for hours, even longer on free play. Did you have a chance to go through that Spawn game? Wow, I have never seen a good pic of Shootout Pool. ^_^_^
picked up my new naomi universal cab last tuesday ... was realy damn dirty ... cab is ready and clean now inside and outside ... the bezel is at the professional painter to have it shiney white again ... the metal botom i painted myself white no problems ... i love naomis
Looking good. How is the bezel being whitened? Professional powder coating or car spray job? Big fan of the Naomi too. Just picked up an Naomi 2 motherboard (last one was faulty). Finally going to get a shot of Virtua Fighter 4 Evo and FT. Spawn was pretty good actually. As yet not finished it, but haven't had the time. Might stick it back in soon and have another shot.
