i just picked up an xbox for $50 with xecuter 3 installed. its running avalaunch dashboard and i want to install yoshi debug bios and im not skilled with original xbox modchips any help on how to change/flash the bios?
Follow these instructions: http://team-xecuter.com/flashbios/ If the BIOS is the same size, all steps will be the same.
okay, I figured out how to flash, but when I flash the bios with yoshi debug bios, it takes me to avalaunch. how do I make it take me to xdk launcher? I'm wanting to use this for RTH
Usually debug bioses will look for the XDK dash (xshell.xbe I think, but there are alot more files needed to have a proper installation of the XDK) in the C: drive. It will try to boot it in priority. Usually, hacked debug bios will fallback to predefined bootpath like regular hacked bioses. So get a copy of the XDK and install it on your Xbox HDD. But if you have an X3, why not use the X3 Config Live bios and enable debug in it. This chip was made to use that bios. You'll be able to toggle debug functionality, change bootpaths without reflashing. You'll even be able to reflash banks of your X3 without the need of FlashBios, not that it's complicated.
i tried enabling it but that also goes straight to avalaunch. i have the files for xdk on my hdd, but still doesn't take me to it
I'll check this later when I get home if I still have the XDK installed on my Xbox HDD. I can remember boot into Xshell using X3 with debug on so I know it's working. Even with on 64mb RAM (it was on a 1.6 Xbox). So I don't think the bios is the issue here. Also make sure that the Xshell.xbe executable is not in fact avalaunch renamed. Once you're in avalaunch, try to launch xshell.xbe in the root of C: just to see what it does. Maybe you'll pop back straight into Avalaunch. Then you'll have a hint that the file named xshell.xbe is not what it appears to be.
okay, so ive managed to be able to get to the xdk launcher, but was wondering if there is a way i can launch games from this (retail games on hdd) to be able to use the RTH tool also the meta editor and pretty much every real time editor i use wont connect to my console. i can use xbox neighborhood to ftp, cold reboot, ect. so i know its connected and the API Monitor says unable to connect to default xbox
Use Retail Game Loader to launch games http://www.assemblergames.com/forum...game-loader-1-20&highlight=retail+game+loader For the specific debug features I would check my firewall settings on Windows but also check that you have xbdm.dll on your E: drive of your Xbox. It's one of the main file needed to use all sorts of debug tools. It puzzle me that Neighborhood networking would work without it but hey, I'm not expert in this matter. If my theory was true about the fact that xshell.xbe was replaced, it could be possible that the XDK installation on your Xbox HDD was altered. I know you normally can't boot retail games with xbdm.dll present. Maybe it was deleted in the past to circumvent that issue.
Easier method is with the 'Hack-devkit-GueuX-V2' it will boot any game you throw at it. Also what OS are you using to connect to the XBOX? There's limitations.
XP mode is a virtual machine. So it doesnt work under windows 7, it works under XP - which is what I said. Even then, virtual machines dont always work - as they do not have direct access to hardware etc.
Yes, but it can still run through Windows 7 by XP mode. Not it doesn't work in Windows 7. Period. Even if it doesn't, it's something he could try and could work for him.
Then you can run it on vista via vmware. Which you said doesnt work. It doesnt work on Windows 7. It works on Windows XP (possibly) via virtual machine - which is completely different to it working on Windows 7. By the same thought process - it works under linux as you can run a XP vm? Not the same thing, obviously as running natively. Virtual machine is a virtual machine, its not running under windows 7. Period.
I just mentioned it runs through XP Mode on Windows 7. Not it runs IN Windows 7. I know XP mode is a virtual machine. I don't think it runs like that in Vista as I never was able to. :dejection:
i tried the hack devkit gueux v2 but It just frags my console. I also read in the read me that it says its only for debug and devkits i use windows xp via virtual machine and it won't work. I have an old PC (lstill uses IDE hdd) that I could possibly use windows xp with
Like I said - virtual machine likely doesnt have direct access to the hardware. Running an older XP box is the best way to do it (or dual boot if space is a concern)
well what about the ability to run retail games on the xdk dash? or get the games to show up on the xdk dash Edit: i put halo 2 in the tools section of the devkit folder and it shows up, but when i try an run it i just get a black screen. also i try to run the retail game loader (put it in tools folder) and it shows the xbox logo then goes back to he xdk dash, then ill try and run halo 2 after that and still get black screen
Halo 2 is buggy on the XDK anyway, especially if you don't have 128mb of ram (I think, been a while). Game people issues back in the day too.
