I have had this controller for years (Around 10 or so and I am only getting to it now, I know!)

And it has always puzzled me. It's a normal retail grey N64 controller but it has a breakaway cable, like an AT styled connector. Which is odd. And strange yellowing and marks where it looks like it was at one point attached to maybe a kiosk?

Yeah it's not in the best condition either. Might swap the casing for it, one day.

I don't know guys, you tell me what you think this is. I was going to pull it apart but I think the answer might be straightforward with this one. But! You never know, it could be something rare, who knows!

    Thanks!

Looks like it might be a kiosk controller?

That's what I am thinking, some sort of Kiosk. But has anyone seen this type of breakaway cable on an N64 controller?
I thought at one point it was a dev controller (1996 - PC's had AT connectors still - I think and that's what the cable looks like).
Don't know, it's got me puzzled.

The early development controllers had modular jacks on them (like a phone plug) - there was also a little adapter PCB that plugged into the modular jack sockets and had regular N64 controller sockets so you could use retail controllers. I'm pretty sure that controller you have is from a kiosk - they put those disconnects in so that the controller arms could be detached for shipment.
