New Neo Geo game revealed: Fast Striker (NG:DEV-TEAM)

Well, they are taking preorders for the Dreamcast port. I get the feeling that they wanted to make it look like it was not going to get a port to another system, but a Dreamcast port was a no-brainer.

 

Good that Dreamcast is getting another new game, but maybe something besides another Shump?

The last couple of homebrew games were that topdown racer, Giana Sisters Returns and the Wind & Water Puzzle Battle. The last shooter has been Last Hope: Pink Bullets in 2009 and now there's Fast Striker.

I think the anti-shooter-fraction is still traumatised by the wave of shooters that represented the last official DC games from 2003-2007. These days are over though (sadly)

 

Why are people expecting a company that makes shooting games to make a totally different kind of game?

I'm a big fan of shmups and own many. To an experienced player, each one is very different. Saying all shmups are the same and unoriginal is rather silly. Sure they SEEM the same to the uninterested and unexperienced, but there AREN'T the same.

Knew a guy who truly thought all Asians looked the same. Some people just don't see it or care to look for it.


Also, I've pre-ordered the DC version. I quite enjoyed Pink Bullets and have a good feeling about this one. They've really pushed the limits of the hardware with this title.

 

Are you suggesting they don't?


As to the game, I thought Last Hope was really terrible, so I'm gonna wait and see if this game has some sense of game design AND balancing whatsoever when it hits the Dreamcast.
