I've been looking for a cpu card so I can basically have a running mac clone inside my pc. No success so far in getting one though.

If I'm not wrong, you can install a beta OS X in a AMD compatible PC.

Kalaway 10.5.2 should work fine on AMD CPU's just make sure you select the correct patches at the install menu.
That said, if you want to dual boot with XP it's possible. If you want help with that then give me a PM or whatever :)

Are you talking about Brand loyalty? Brand loyalty is completely different in these two industry's, Its not comparable...

Yes, I could have bought a $800 Dell, but:

    One plug
    Near Silent
    Big, awesome screen
Pisses off my brother-in-law as he only has a MacBook

I have always built my own computers, I decided it was time to buy new, and if I was going to get into debt with finance, I might as well get something OTT, even if it's not very well spec'd for the price.

You mean it looks better than a PC? Or the way its designed like the monitor built into its case?

Is that really worth that extra money? I think not. Apple are clearly over profiting on their hardware sales.

£800 for a machine with a low end ATI Radeon HD? wtf apple. That said, at least its slightly more reasonable than sticking some random intel integrated into it like they used to

I agree, since the iPod became their main product and they dropped the computer from "Apple computer" that they dont give a crap about their PCs anymore.

For example the ImacG4 was up to date HW-wise and had a competitive price, but now you're buying it for the brand, not even the case which IMO looks like any generic all-in-one, and that aluminium+black design just looks bad.

My MacBook Pro is damn near the best computer I've ever owned. Granted, I didn't pay full price for it, but it's design and OS X have been great.

So, when are they upgrading their macbook line? I eagerly awaiting the day that it will be worth the switch, but 1000 bucks for a 2.2x2 and,120hdd, a 1gb of ram doesn't cut it.

And please -oh, please!- apple, upgrade your macbook hardware spec and don't make it a gadgetty wow-wow pow-pow iphone grandeure nature.

There are rumors abound about Apple finally bringing out a redesigned MacBook and MacBook Pro.

Should the title for this place change to:

ASSEMbler - Home of the place where you can spend thousands on obsolete hardware, as long as it isn't a Mac

    ;-)

I seriously don't get all the hate, just buy what you want, as long as you are happy with it.

Is not hate man, I would pay for an old Mac, and much more if it was MINT, but paying more for a regular PC thats supposed to be highend is a scam.

For example, lets say MS re-releases the Xbox in a nicer case but for the same $300 bucks than in 2001, would you buy it?

Granted the intelMacs arent that obsolete/underpowered, but the idea is pretty much the same: you're paying a hefty plus for a case (that btw isnt custom or anything) and a brand, since theres no longer custom hardware in there and you can install OSX in a PC nowadays.

    What? you stole it?

And what I heard is that they're going to release an atom-based Macbook touch:eek:h:

    When is the next macworld?

Actually is 1300 bucks, but yeah is overpriced, which sucks since what I remember about the iBook is that it had a great price, and a great hardware to boot.

For that much the least I expect is a macbook with a GPU (instead of integrated intel graphics).

Of course it's a scam, legions of Apple Faithful just waiting in line to fork over whatever Steve Jobs says is the next big thing. I think it's absolutely ridiculous!

However, it's a nice machine, it's fast, it's quiet, does exactly what I want it to do (once I install XP lol).

You mention MS if they re-released the XBOX in a new case, but just take a step back and look at Nintendo, release the DS, re-release the DS in a new case, what happens? every fucker trades in their old one for the new one! no questions asked, just "dude, how much can I get in trade for my old DS?"

    It's exactly the same thing.

You have people that enjoy a companies products, and you have morons that religiously follow a companies every word with their cash in hand, just waiting to be told what they should like.

I think Steve Jobs is a twat, he is an arrogant little shit who won't bend to anyone's will other than his own. However, I wanted an iMac, so I bought one.

Nice example with the DS, although it has some improvements, while some of these stand-up iMacs had lots of overheating issues none of the previous had.

You can take more RAM/upgraded CPU/etc in the same light. Fact of the matter is though, it's exactly the same. I would go the "The Wii is just a GameCube in a new, shiny case" route but I don't have the energy for another fanboy war.
